I've come under LP scrutiny as well.
Entered a store with my mother, who was unfortunately not taller than many clothing racks. When I realized we had separated I started wandering around aimlessly looking for her. A few minutes of this and I noticed a man following me. I became a little more frantic in my search. The man came closer and closer. I'd finally had enough and walked to the front of the store. I became very apprehensive when this stranger didn't back off once I got to the "safety" of one of the clerks at the front register. He started questioning me - what was I doing, who was I here with? He told me to empty my pockets onto the checkout stand. I looked around desperately for my mother, who finally appeared from the back of the store and started tearing strange guy a new one. Why? 'cause I was six farkin' years old!
Seriously, I'm aware that LP helps keep prices down for all of us, but there are certainly occasions (evident in this thread) when it seems they'd be more effective focused elsewhere.
