  • I get that you're not supposed to drive while on the phone... But REALLY?!

So today I was going through my usual routine of picking up my sister from school. The road I have to drive through is undergoing construction at the moment so things can be a little confusing if you're driving through for the first time.

Right now, the road we're driving on looks like this.

I usually just take the left turn lane simply because most people opt for the other lane, therefor it's a little faster. I've see people take advantage of that. Cut into the other lane at the last moment, lane change just as the light turns green, etc. But this guy in Car A really took the cake.

I'm in Car C, behind Car B. Green light comes on.

    But we aren't moving.

B drives into the other lane, and I move up, not realizing what's going on at this point. Car A is just sitting there, with the green light on, not moving.

I honk the horn think maybe he doesn't realize that the light is green and the cars in the other lane are moving. The bastard flips me off.

I'm pissed by this point, and as I can imagine, everyone behind me. I drive around to see an old man, probably his mid to late-80s chatting away on his phone. His grinning and laughing....

Okay, you're kidding me right? Pretty much 90% of the people missed their light because you couldn't be bothered to pull over in a place that didn't annoy the ever loving hell out of the drivers behind you. I'll give you credit, you didn't want to talk while driving, I can respect that. But seriously....

Hm... Wonder why that happened, I checked it multiple times and things were fine before, I don't understand why it acting up now...

I thought he might've been broken down. But with how happy he was, laughing and grinning... It's hard for me to give him the benefit of the doubt...

I was having a lot of trouble with my car engine just stopping while I had it stalled due to the spark plug going out. I had it stop on that exact same road while a green light was going. To make things worse, I didn't see the light change immediately since the sun was directly behind the light and in my eyes. So basically cars are honking behind me and then I realized my car stopped at the one moment when I really needed it to move.

For the record, it's really embarrassing to restart your car in the middle of the road....

My alternator died causing my battery to die as I was sitting at a red light in the right of two lanes. I put my flashers on but because the battery was mostly dead you could barely see them so I was standing behind my car just off the side of the road waving people over so they wouldn't get stuck behind my car.

Most people caught on right away and it warmed my heart how many people stopped and asked if I needed help or a tow truck (AAA was already on the way). Except one guy. He completely ignored me and stopped behind my car. He ignored me yelling at him and when the light turned green started laying on his horn because (DUH!) the car in front of him wasn't moving. I finally just walked up and wrapped on his drivers side window.

            Him: WHAT!
Me: Cars dead, you have to go around.
Him: Why don't you have your FUCKING BLINKERS ON!
Me: I do. Dead battery so they're hard to see.
Him: (realizes blinkers are on) Well how the FUCK am I supposed to see that. No one can see that!
Me: Yeah...that's why I'm standing here waiving people around the car. You're the first person whose just ignored me.
Him: Well...mutter...mutter...kids these days...all criminals and junkies...don't know who you are or why you're standing there...

And then he drives around my car without an apology not that I expected one.
You'll find a slight squeeze on the hooter an excellent safety precaution, Miss Scrumptious.
