On Sunday we got hit with half a foot of snow in the lowlands and nearly two feet in other parts of the county. We normally don't get a lot of snow here (my city owns exactly one snowplow), so the roads were pretty dicey as we have pretty limited resources for snow removal.
The Interstate wasn't too bad at least. Snow was still coming down pretty good. I was going about 5 under (55 on a 60) with much of the rest of traffic. I saw a semi coming up behind me. I didn't want to get sprayed with a wall of slush, so I got up to the speed limit. The semi kept coming, and then passed me like I was standing still. It was going at least 70. I got sprayed with a wall of slush.
Also, do you know how much it is to tow your car out of the Interstate median? $215, at least here and with the company we could find that had a truck available. Hubs was on his way to work on Monday. He was driving careful but hit a snowy patch and ended up in the median. He and the car were fine, but he was definitely stuck (he drives a little CRX with low profile tires...not the best snow car unfortunately). State Patrol talked to him but didn't cite him for anything. $215 got him unstuck and towed to the next exit.
