Pull over to let her by? That would have meant either colliding with another car or pulling onto the shoulder, which I won't do for a non-emergency vehicle.

What you did was illegal and if a cop had seen you, you'd have gotten a ticket. You could have caused an accident. You should have maintained your speed until you could safely pass.
