Living in a large apartment complex, decent parking spaces are hard to come by since it's every man for himself. We don't have designated spots.
The back of our building has a back door and a loading dock. (for people moving in and out, plus deliveries for maintenance) Looking at the back door there's a dozen or so spots on the right and 4 spots on the left.
There's about a 10 foot section on the left painted yellow (fire lane) but people kept parking there, despite getting the occasional ticket. (I'm guilty of doing the same, usually after a 10 hour work day and if the weather is shitty)
Well, the complex was getting tired of people parking there, so they put 3 traffic cones there to make it clear people shouldn't park there.
Came home the other night and was delighted to see the space just in front of the fire zone was free. Then noticed someone had moved the traffic cones into that parking space!
So... let me guess. You had to go somewhere and leave your great parking spot so you thought you'd put the cones there hoping people wouldn't park there, right?
