  • You're complaining that you got caught?

Of course. I overheard 2 ladies at work talking about some recent road changes and how they are just excuses for the police to ticket more people. One was upset because of a new stop sign (only a year old!!!) that she drove-through and got pulled-over for. It wasn't fair! It was never there before! The other one was upset about an intersection at the end of the road that is a right-turn only, with the road opposite having a 'do not enter' sign. She was upset that OTHER people never get pulled-over when they turn left illegally, but that she does!

Oh, and a friend who tried to justify that he shouldn't have gotten a ticket for making a 'rolling stop' at a stop sign. Welllll....if you were rolling, you weren't stopping!

I just have to say, if you don't want to get caught, don't do it! Duh.

I can sort of understand the stop sign thing.

My borough tried installing a new stop sign on one of the main roads. It was at the T intersection immediately following the business district. For years, the only people who had to stop, was traffic on the side street, and both lanes of the main road leading into the business district (and eventually onto Route 51) Traffic coming out of the business district never had to stop.

Until, some bright spark on the borough council decided that traffic was moving too fast, and somehow got that stop sign thing passed. It didn't last long--quite a few people had been used to it *not* being there, and simply missed it. Those who *did* stop, usually got rear-ended. After about 6 months of this, the sign was taken out. But, they put another sign which read "stop sign has been removed." Uh, they actually needed another sign to state that? Thank you Captain Obvious!

Oh, and where I live? You don't see people rolling through stop signs...unless they don't live there. Cops just *love* nailing people for doing that

I got nailed for "rolling" a stop sign once. The cop made it seem like I blew through the stop at the full 30 MPH speed limit (residential area). No way.

Ever since then if it's night time or if I even have the slightest suspicion a cop might be watching, I will deliberately brake harder than necessary at the end of my stop to make my car nose-dive so it's blatantly obvious I stopped. I want to make sure no cop ever mistakes my normal, smooth stop for a roll.

I hate the whole getting a ticket for "rolling" a stop sign thing, and that's as much as I'm gonna say without hopping over to fratching.

just to be clear though, "rolling" a stop sign to me means slowing enough your speedometer doesn't even register it...

I've never rolled through a stop sign. The extra 2-3 seconds it would take to just come to a complete stop aren't worth the hassle (and wasted minutes) of getting a ticket for it.

I did fail to stop at one, once, however, due to an overgrown tree. Thankfully, there was nobody else around at the time, so there were no untoward consequences.

Oh, around here, those signs dont literally mean "Stop".

That just means "Spit Twice On Pavement".

And I believe it because cops rarely pull people over for ignoring them anyway.

sounds like one of my old coworkers
she was bitching and moaning let and right over her Reckless Driving ticket cos she was caught doing 75 in a 55 zone.

her "excuse" was going to be that she thought she was still on the HOV lane (yeah right)

got to the point where i just wanted to tell her to STFU. mostly cos she knew she was guilty
she just didn't want to be responsible for her actions

There's an ad that plays on the radio for some scheister who gets people out of when they're caught drunk driving. I always turn the radio off as soon as I realize it's that commercial.

I need to write a letter to the radio station that I really don't appreciate them playing that ad.

I blew a stop sign out in the middle of nowhere once.....and no, I'm not lying, it was so far out there and so BFE that the stop sign was barely visible with all the trees.

A failure to stop ticket is really expensive! And to top it off, 4 points off of your license (or 4 points added? I forget how that works). Ouch!
