When you're on the freeway and you see ahead that someone is pulled over, what do you do?

Well, this morning, the leader of the pack of traffic decided that after we'd all gotten into the left lane to leave room (which is courtesy), they'd SLAM on the brakes as hard as possible, setting off a chain reaction of all of us having to slam on the brakes.

Yay for groceries all over the inside of my trunk and out of their bags!

    Fuck you, whoever did that.

Ugh, I swear I encountered something similar on the Masspike coming home from my convention yesterday. Several miles before my exit, I encountered a traffic jam that clogged up all three lanes of the Pike. When we finally got abreast of the accident that caused it, I noticed that all the involved cars were pulled off to the shoulder, there were no fire trucks or ambulances, and that all noticeable non-cops were fine and standing on their own. Yet our three lanes were still backed up until just after that, when speed picked up again. Not only that, but all three lanes on the eastbound (other) side of the Pike were also backed up, despite the fact that there was no part of the accident at all over there. Near as I can figure, the eastbound traffic was all clogged up thanks to rubberneckers, and it even backed up into the next set of tollbooths (where I got off) and beyond. Good grief.
