On Saturday Mr. Dips was driving me back from Boston via Rte. 1. This is a very old 3 lane highway with bridges and short ramps. Traffic was backed up badly because this was also the alternate route to get around some major constructon on the interstate.
We were in the center lane and became aware of horns beeping behind us.
A guy in a Silver car was giving the "What?!" gesture to a guy in a blue car who was beeping, flipping him off and making the "pull over so we can fight gesture."
Oh, great!
They both passed us on the right as that lane became a exit lane and opened up a little.
Silver merged in front of us and Blue kept even with him, blocking everyone behind him even though his lane was wide open, to continue with the crazy gestures.
We moved the left lane and passed Silver. I glanced over and he was laughing his butt off at Blue.
Then our lane got slow and we were passed by Silver again with Blue still glued to his right door like a leech trying to get Silver to pull over and fight with him.
Mr. Dips pulled back into the center lane a few cars back from Silver. As luck would have it Blue must have realized he had a clear lane ahead of him and Silver had no intention of continuing the "fight." He took off down the right exit only lane leaving Silver and us in the dust.
Silver then moved into the left lane which started going faster and got way ahead of us.
We got up to the exit and who do we see?
Blue trying to get back over into the center lane since he wasn't exiting. He made it a few cars ahead of us.
And promptly slowed down leaving a giant gap ahead of him. As we pulled left and passed him he was checking each and every car passing him. He was looking for Silver. I guess he made himself mad all over again and wanted to intercept Silver for another round.
Only Silver was at least a half mile ahead of both of us and he had no idea.
We moved to the left lane and passed Blue, still holding up waiting for Silver like a cat staring at an empty mouse hole.
I wonder how long he kept it up before he figured it out?
