  • If I could throttle the lot of you, I would

I was driving my mother to a restaurant located on the outside of a mall so we could have lunch. This mall (like others, I'm assuming) has one long road that wraps around the entire building, so visitors simply drive in a circle until they find the parking lot for their intended store. Since this road has a lot of openings and side roads, it is beneficial to be careful when making a turn. (Not all turns have stop signs.)

I reach the point when the main road Ts into the circular road that wraps around the mall. I came to a full stop so I could make sure no one was coming (and therefore didn't get into an accident). The SECOND I stop, the asshole behind me lays on the horn. I was so surprised I accidentally took my foot off the peddle and actually rolled forward a few inches. I caught myself and started to stew angrily, but continued on my way.

When I made my turn, the car behind me followed quickly (obviously not looking for oncoming traffic, the idiots) and proceeded to blow by me. What really made me see red was that every single person in the car flipped me the bird.

If I could get away with vehicular homicide, I would have been more than tempted.

I think that would be justifiable homicide but that could be just me.

The offense against the state, if any, should be "Discharge of firearm w/o permit" or "Taking of varmint w/o exterminators license".

Don't be tempted at all Moosenogger. That kind of driving comes with its own punishment. Let's just hope they don't take anyone with them though.

I hate the cars that always seem to be rushing to an end-of-the-world situation.

Did you have a stop sign?

My mall is set-up EXACTLY like that! Heaven forbid you stop and look for traffic! And nobody even stops for any of the stop signs; they figure it doesn't apply in a parking lot.

I'd have to double check (I haven't been there in a long time), but I don't think I had a stop sign at this point. Even though I had the right of way, I still like to check if there's oncoming traffic. (It's not like the oncoming cars can stop in the middle of the lane because someone pulled out in front of them.) I only stop for a moment or two, so the people behind me had no reason to flip out.

Ah, ok. I was just wondering. We have several shopping centers like that here. When there's buildings in the way, sure, I'll stop. If not, I don't.

When someone stops in front of me for no reason that's apparent, especially after clearing the area, I always go around them to avoid them again. It freaks me because I don't trust them to follow the flow.

I don't barrel around like an idiot, however, lol.

I understand getting irritated or nervous if someone stops in front of you for no reason, but that's really not what happened here - the people were just assholes. This mall is very busy, and people will blow through stop signs as though they're just a suggestion. There's also always someone coming or going, so that's why I take a moment or two to stop and look for oncoming traffic.

To be honest, if there isn't a stop sign there, I'd be more than shocked. It's a very good place to get t-boned by an oncoming car, since there isn't a lot of room to stop suddenly if someone pulls out in front of you.

(I really need to add a visual to my original post. The area I'm talking about literally looks like a T. The main road dead ends, and you have to turn either left or right. That's why I think it's a terrible idea to turn without looking for an oncoming car.)

It's okay . I understand completely what you mean about the T. Like that here, too.

Sounds like visibility must be crap. Which always sucks when it's a busy center.

If they're staring at the business end of a 379 (or a W900) when they get their punishment, don't worry - they won't be taking anyone with them.
