  • Make a HOLE

AHHHHHHH yes Friday night in my town. just your ordinary upper Mid-west Wisconisn smallish town. and then there are the dumbasses who drive drunk (at the very least impared by something).

I get home after working the almost closing late driver shift. I do ordinary things like change clothes and decide what to eat. I am sitting in the living room with my GF and all of a sudden:

    BOOM BOOM BOOM

like someone has set of 3 M-80s in a row nearby

we both look at each other and say "WTF was that????" I open the front door and see a car slowly backing out of the neighbors driveway turn and pull away to the next street and turn. I go back inside and get my glasses and go outside. but by then the car is gone.

I walk down the sidewalk a little ways toward the neighbors garage and see a BIG streak of oil in the street and in the neighbors driveway.

Now I live accross the street from a HS and their parking lot borders the street I live on. this parking lot is mostly enclosed by a wooden fence.

now the oil streak leads back to the middle of a section of fence. I notice that a section of the fence is now almost in the middle of the street. one of my other neighbors comes walking around the corner and we both go to investigate.

It seems that someone had driven their car through the HS parking lot (ignoring the outlet driveway, hit the curb (thus ripping or severely damaging their oil pan and possilbly doing major damage to their front end), jumped the curb, crashed through the fence, over the sidewalk, down the curb on this side and straight INTO the neighbors driveway stopping literally 2 feet away from the garage.

about 3 or 4 minutes later I see a couple of cop cars with flashers going traveling at high speed toward the nearest major intersection.

inorder for all of the above to occur the driver had to have been traveling a far speed. I think what happened is that the driver entered the parking lot from a street that sort of deadends into the HS parking lot (maybe ignoring the flashing red light there), hit the parking lot, picked up speed and misjudged where the exit was and drove straight into the fence.

and people wonder why I really dislike doing delivery at 1 or 2 am on a Friday or Saturday night. after 10 pm on those night I get REALLY paranoid about the traffic (sparce as it may be) on the road.

The hole was there. But is it gone now?

    Sorry... Couldn't help myself.
Drive it like it's a county car.

I'm guessing the cops had little trouble following the oily asphalt to find Mad Max?

not really all that easy. I would say 99% of the oil was "lost" between the initial curb impact and the driveway (a space of about 75 feet). during the daylight today I followed the trail down the block and it mostly ended where the person made a turn onto the next major street. after that I could not follow the trail amongst the other stains on the road.

and the neighbor whose driveway was "lubed", I caught him as he was coming home about an hour after I first made the OP. he wondered what happened. I gave him the story from my OP. He sort of laughed in a "OH SHIT" way. this is because normally he would have been home from work just before this happened but last night he had some shopping to do and cam home way later that normal.

That meant that his car, his garage and the car inside of the garage (a car up on blocks) would have been severly damaged if not totalled.
