We have a bad intersection just below our house where our road crosses over a major road (Wendover Ave, aka Wendover Speedway or US 70) that's become notorious for wrecks (had 3 just within the last 6 months.)
Last night, however, we had a person killed trying to walk across My Road at Wendover. I missed this b/c I was in bed before 8 and was out like a light.

This intersection is really bad for wrecks as it is - it's at the top of a hill for starters. Add to that vehicles running through at breakneck speed trying to beat the light (which does change quickly) and the bad part of this . . .
There is a pedestrian crosswalk there with a light. Hardly anybody who walks at that intersection will actually USE that button (Mom does, but I think she's the only one I know of.) Or they refuse to wait for the light to change and will dart out and walk across with the traffic flying around them.
It was really a question of time before somebody else got killed at that intersection (somebody else died several years back but was driving and involved in a car accident.)
