Thank you Grumpy Cat for the inspiration.
For Nevada this is the start of the happiest season of the year, whensuckers tourists start coming in droves to throw away their money patronize our fine establishments. I shouldn't complain too loudly, these are the people who pay my paycheck and make our fine state possible (even when I get out of the hospitality business, they will indirectly be paying my pay check simply because they make the state possible). Of course, we will have stories more regularly now.
My room is depressing
I get it, no one likes getting the room that looks over the casino roof... that said, you booked an economy room and you got exactly that. We told you when you booked that the cheapest rooms were the least desirable in the hotel, if you want a nicer room with a nicer view, then you are going to have to pay for it (or earn it through better comps as the case may be). Oh, what's that, you're such a great player we should upgrade you? Oh, let me check... yeah, your avday is 6, I have a better avday than that using barely more than my free play... so yeah, no upgrade for you.
How dare you upgrade me!
I really wish I was making this up, but we had a guest who was absolutely furious that he wasn't getting his normal room (a delux king) and were instead giving him a king suite. Oh my god, the horror of it all. Can you imagine having to give up the room with the view you like for one with twice the square footage, a jacuzzi tub, a balcony, and an even better view? I honestly don't know how this guy survived this injustice that we perpatrated against him.
Yeah, I'm never stepping foot on a Carnival Cruise line ship... ever
So, I spent two hours dealing with a telemarketer from Carnival Cruise lines who just wouldn't give up trying to sell us. I tried every variation of "you are calling a business line, unless you are a guest needing assistance, please do not call us" and hanging up on them, only to have them keep calling back. When I asked for a supervisor to have them add us to the do not call list, their only response was "we have your number, so we'll ring it whenever we fucking feel like it."
Yeah, as if your ships weren't shitty enough (quite literally it seems), you've now had a supervisor at your company use the f-bomb with me after you've already been unprofessional in calling a business number... at this point I'm not just never using you, I'm warning everyone I know (hi guys
) to avoid you also.
A bit of cursing out coworkers
Dear graveyard shift cage workers, I can't leave the desk to get change, when I run out, I have no choice but to send guests over to you to complete their transactions, sending them back to me will only serve to irritate them (and rightfully so) and make me call you foul names under my breath. I get it that cashier's cage has better things to do than deal with players club, but guess what reality is, I have a fixed amount of cash in my drawer at the beginning of the shift, on busy days it will run out, and unlike on swing shift, I don't have the ability to close my window and let my coworkers continue to help guests while I replenish my drawer. If you don't like me sending guests over to you, then I suggest you start giving me a larger bank to begin with.
read the coupon
All offers start after 3AM, it says so on all the coupons. I don't care how misleading you think it is that the coupon says "Monday bonus cash" and it's now Monday and you can't redeem it (or whatever day it says), because it also explicitly says "starting at 3am"... go on, complain to the gaming board that we are using false advertising, see how far you get with them.
Speaking of the gaming board
Having one symbol just barely off the pay line isn't a malfunctioning game, not only is it allowed by the gaming board, it is unofficially approved (they make their livelihood off of gaming, and stuff like that gets people adrenaline going and makes them want to gamble more)... on that note, if you fail to play max bet, it is not our fault that you didn't win the progressive jackpot. Complain to the gaming board all you want, we know we are following the rules to the letter, we invite their scrutiny.
bonus club bonus
In three weeks we are completely scrapping and rebuilding our players club system. The only thing we know for certain is that all earned comps will transfer over, all tracked play will transfer over, and the tiers will remain the same. Beyond that, we know nothing at the desk, because it hasn't been finalized yet. Now, being confused I can understand, being concerned I can understand, but being angry at us for not knowing about something that doesn't exist yet and is being put in place because you requested it... yeah, now we are talking a new level of suck.
Seriously, the people who complained the loudest about our players club system are now the ones complaining the loudest that we are changing it. Now, I get it, changing over isn't going to be easy, but what people need to understand, our players club system is 25 years old. The things that they are complaining about (points being slow to post, bonus offers being slow to update to changes in play, and card readers that aren't very reliable, etc) are all things that can only be fixed by completely replacing it... no seriously, we contacted IGT about updating it, and they just laughed at us.
bonus club bonus- pre-emptive cursing out coworkers
It truly saddens me that this policy has already been put in place, I would hope my coworkers are more honest than this. Our new system will allow free play to be downloaded directly to a machine. State law allows those transactions to go only one way, once downloaded on a machine, it must be played, it can't be put back on the card, it can't be cashed out (obviously winnings off of it can be cashed out, but the free play itself can't). We anticipate a level of suckiness about this, but nothing we can do, state law will not allow it. The sad thing though is that there is a policy that any employee caught playing on abandoned free play will be immediately terminated. We haven't even put the new system in place and already we are having to protect ourselves from ourselves... kind of sad.
