So as part of my job I train people on how to handle calls, it basically means for a day I sit with them, do their job and if anything unexpected crops up I tell them how best to handle it. This one day I was sitting in on a delivery team member. They are responsible for calling customers and arranging deliveries of their items - it was a slow day so rather than monitoring I decided to jump in and take some calls.
I load up this customer and proceed to dial the cell number. No response. Ok time to try the landline number.
SC: Hello?
Me: Hi, is Miss X there please
SC: Listen you, I don't know who the f*** you are but you've been calling all week for Miss X and she doesnt live here.
Me: Ok this number was given as a point of contact
SC: I DONT CARE YOU HAVE BEEN CALLING ALL WEEK
Me (Slightly Irked by this): Sir, if you don't know who we are how do you know it has been us calling all week?
SC: I JUST DO - REMOVE ME FROM YOUR SYSTEM AND MAKE DAMN SURE YOU DO YOU COMPLETE F***ING MORON.
Me (Pissed): Sir, I am not here to be swore at nor will I accept any foul language. You have not been phoned by this particular company but yet you feel you have. I can tell you that you have not - the fact you have been called by other companies is not my fault and most certainly does not require you to use such abusive and frankly idiotic language towards me. I am terminating this call and will remove your number from the system.
New starter looks up at me.
Me: If you do that to a customer in the future, you didn't learn it from me, mmk?
NS: K.
I load up this customer and proceed to dial the cell number. No response. Ok time to try the landline number.
