This past Friday I had a trainee which will play into this story in a bit. We got a busy stretch and my co-worker (not the new one) rang up a guy with a cart full of 12 packs of soda. Rush is over co-worker goes to lunch. All is well. I keep training the new guy which was probably more chatting but that's good too.
Mr. Crabbypants comes back in with his receipt and starts going on and on about how he was overcharged by one 12 pack. I was doing his refund as he was going on.
Mr. Crabbypants: You got to keep an eye on everyone. I told her I had 9 but I got charged for 10. I have them in my trunk if you want to see. Have to watch everybody. I told her I had 9. <looking at trainee> Bob, are you in charge of watching people here? Gotta watch everybody.
Trainee:

Me: Sorry about that. Your money is back on your card.
Guy leaves Trainee and I start laughing. Co-worker came up to buy stuff for lunch so I informed her what a miserable and horrible cashier she was and yes I was just kidding with her. And the best line in this whole thing goes to my co-worker.
"He was grouchy when I rang him up so I'm glad I gave him something to complain about."
