I was telling my SO about this thread with some of the things that were "recycled." She asked what a "furry" is. I said it's when people dress up like animals and uh, well, you know (the other thing they do. Other than the drawings and MUCK/MUDDs). Her response: "Aww, sounds cute!"
Um.... no... just... no.
When you see anything published about what "furry" is, there's a 99% chance that the focus is on the most extreme parts of the fandom.
What most people think of as furry is the same as pointing to the homosexual guy prancing around in the feather boa and indicating that he represents the gay community. Sure, he does, but only a tiny portion of it.

Regarding the vibrators being thrown in the recycling bin or given to Goodwill.....
Today I was shopping in Savannah, as our shopping options in Key West are rather limited, to say the least. (And I had already finished packing up RW's stuff in our vehicles, thank you very much.) And I was in an adult store.
Now I don't mind adult stores. And we have them in Key West. So I wasn't looking to shop in one today. But I ended up in this one because their name and their sign out front led me to believe that they were more of a toy store/novelty place.
To their credit, they DID have some amusing novelties, and I spent some very laugh-inducing time in their checking out some of the funnier stuff. (I bought some of it for my friend's upcoming birthday, actually.)
While shopping, I saw a sign that said something to the effect of "No returns will be accepted on vibrators, lingerie, and other personal items." So I just HAD to ask.....
JESTER: "Amusing sign. Do you get a lot of people trying to return 'personal items'?"
CLERK: "Actually, yes. You would be surprised."
JESTER: (based on many things I have heard in CS.com) "Sadly, I don't think I would be...."

Erm, as far as I know (and I do stand to be corrected on this), tentacle porn is a horror hentai thing. The participants are generally human women and tentacled creatures and they have "relations".
That's about as delicately as I can put it.
That one isn't worksafe: but is a very funny take on tentacle porn, IMO.
NOTE: The particular comic I linked to is simply funny - but if you choose to read more, almost everyone will find something in the comic offensive. You have been warned. And there are scenes in the archives which are extremely NOT worksafe.
Seshat's self-help guide:
1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Oh my goodness. An ex boyfriend of mine who is an amateur film-maker was scouting for props and locations the one weekend with his assistant. And what do they stumble across but a second-hand adult shop.
Yes, you read right - second. hand. sex. toys.
When he told me I went from this to this to this and finally this
Turns out that Building A only learned for a little while. We started finding food, cigarette water and a few other goodies in the bins last Thursday... so on Monday, you know what my boss told us to do? To go to Building A... and remove the bins.
The whole building has lost their recycling priviliges.
I felt like a tow truck driver towing somebody's car after they'd park in a fire lane for weeks in a row: really sticking it to someone who deserved it... and catching some attitude from folks who were shocked, SHOCKED, that their nasty, disgusting conditions just might have gotten on somebody's nerves. Albeit, I do feel sorry for the people who were following the rules, but still... no more Building A, ever. I am now a happy hedgehog.

Oh, man, I love that comic. And some of Ghastly's rants are great, too. Home of the infamous Buck Cake!
Oddly enough, I found that comic while searching for a picture of Velma Dinkley, of all things.
I can't imagine a 2nd hand shop for any sort of personal item. *shudder*

Yeah, usually every thread turns into one about boobs.
I guess other parts of the anatomy wanted a little ... attention.
