WTH is wrong w/ people???

I really want to know what you guys think.

I work for TB and I have worked for TB on and off for 8 yrs since I was 15. Seriously why do SC's think it's ok to threaten violence on someone who is just doing their job?

Yesterday I was working in the drive thru. I was in a really good mood and having a good day. SC pulls up to the speaker and it went like this....

Me: Hi, How are you today?
SC: Gimmie a minute.
Me: Ok, let me know when your ready.
(2:30 later....we have 2:10 to get the order and have them out of the drive thru)
Me: Can I help you find something?
SC: No...I need 2 bean burritos no onion add sour cream, nacho supreme, and 4 tacos
Me: (Repeats order) would you like anything to drink?
SC: Yeah I need hot sauce (??to drink??)
Me: Ok your total is $..... at the first window, thank you
SC: ( pulls to window)
Me: Hi there (repeats total)
SC: (shoves a coupon under my nose...Buy one Get one bean burritos) Here
Now there is a BIG sign on the speaker box that says please tell us you have coupons BEFORE ordering...but hey we all know SC's can't read.
Me: (takes coupon) Ok.........If you could please let us know before you order next time so we can give you the right total.(Same speech we give everyone)
SC: I Told You I Forgot I Had It!
Me: *stare* ....um ok I was just saying to...
SC: (jumps in) Look I told YOU I forgot
Me: (hands him his change) Have a nice night

Like that isn't enough....

He pulls up to the next window to get his food. Then tells the new guy working at the window..

SC: Tell that fat bitch she needs to change her attitude before I chin check her.
NG: Uh ok....whatever

If you don't know cuz I had never heard it chin check is to punch someone in the face.
What is wrong with ppl? I'm a 5'2 female and he wasn't a small guy. Granted he also doesn't know that I leg press well over triple what he weighs but still! When did this kind of crap become acceptable? In the 14 yrs I have been working (everything from TB...car sales...cashier...clerical...receptionist..wallywo rld...ect) I have never been attacked (verbally and physically) more then while working in the fast food industry. I have had numerous GROWN men threaten to hit, punch or slap me. I have had people try to reach across the counter at me or another employee. I have had them park outside waiting for me to leave at close (I've had 3 arrested for this). I have had change, credit cards, food, drinks, beer bottles (they shattered the drive thru window) all throw at me. I've been called every name in the book. Don't get me wrong I like working in customer service but sometimes I wonder why I bother. Oh yeah it's for the nice lady that brings in cookies at christmas, the customer that said they missed you when you took a couple days off, the customer that remembers your b-day or even the new customer that calls corporate to tell them what a good job you were doing. It just kills me that some people feel it's acceptable to assault someone over a f*ing burrito!

You have to consider what is more important to you. Coming from someone who has also been called every name in the book, who has also had almost every imaginable thing thrown at them, who has also been physically threatened and stalked by customers....................

Trust me.....it may be time to consider working somewhere else. Or investing in a taser gun and a 2x4.

Thanks You Guys! I really appreciate your feedback. I know I keep thinking about getting a new job. I really need to look into it. Oh and as a postscript apparently he called my boss to complain about me too. So it looks like I'll have to wait till Friday to find out all about that. She said he's a moron don't worry about it.....so....I guess we'll see.

I'd love to see them put a video camera with sound outside the drive-through, aimed at the back of the car so the license plate is visible. Then if the customer threatens / assaults / drives off without paying, the details are recorded, the police are called and the asshat is arrested.

There is something about being a customer that brings out the bully in a lot of people. It makes them feel like a real Big Shot, being able to order a "slave" around and show their ass without any real consequences. The only reason they do not get what they deserve is because there is a rather sizeable counter between the employee's foot and the SC's cajones.

I'd advise you to let them know, if you haven't already, that you heard him threaten physical violence and you have a witness as well. If your bosses/corporate heads have any integrity and the faintest knowledge of the law, anything that cowardly piece of shit SC says will be ignored immediately. He threatened to assault you - he does not get to compain about anything.

And in some cases, making threats to harm someone is illegal. I think that customer sounds seriously crazy - unfortunately, that may make him dangerous, as well.
So document everything you remember, including dates and witnesses as well as his physical description. Make a note of what you tell your manager (and what they say to you in return) and you may wish to mention to them that threatening bodily harm is illegal and they should be noting down anything he tells them over the phone, in case it is needed in the future to give to the police. I only wish your boss would tell him if he calls again (or if she is planning to call him back) that you are considering pressing charges or taking out a restraining order, because you now consider him to be a physical threat to your safety.

I doubt he'll come back - sounds like a classic coward to me. But he shouldn't be able to get away with pulling stunts like this. It is NOT OKAY, especially to direct threats against women.
