This happened to my coworker, M, yesterday. Some woman came up to her and said, "I can't find my child." M asked if she wanted us to call a code Adam for her and she jumped down her throat. "There's NO REASON to make a big deal over the radios for something like this. All I want you to do is page him on the loud speaker. Ugh--you know what? Nevermind; I'll find him myself." She walked off. M did a page over the loudspeaker or the radio (I don't remember which she said) anyway. The woman came back and said "You can tell your people they don't need to do that again"--or something like that. M informed her that if we know a child is missing we have to call it out, period.
Well, excuuuuuuuuse us for trying to help you find your lost child! I think she was more concerned about not looking like a bad parent. Who cares?? A child is lost! Good grief. Some people really are that self-involved.
