There's a cashier like this at the coffee shop I like. Every time she's working I pay, and stand at the counter listening to three minutes of "did you see what politician did? S/he's so stupid! Why would any one vote for them?" and "there's a new bill proposed to .....isn't that great!?"
The worst part is her opinions and mine are usually polar opposites, but it seems mean to argue in public and with people who are working, so I just have to stand there nodding along with her ridiculous views.
When I first started working years ago it was in the workplace handbook that certain subjects weren't appropriate for discussion while on the clock. I try hard to stick with that.
If anyone asks, that's the answer I give.

I saw an older lady make a confused/disgusted look a couple of weeks ago at a t-shirt I was wearing. It's my "Choose the Form of the Destructor" t-shirt, and it has the elephant and donkey on it. I'm thinking about wearing it when I vote in the general election. I don't see how it could be considered electioneering. I probably shouldn't wear it, just to be safe...but I'm thinking about it.
I generally avoid politics at work, or in public in general, unless I know the person pretty well. Interesting discussions at my house sometimes because my wife and I are political opposites, on most issues.
