What's odd about the 911 service, is that for years, my grandmother's side road simply wasn't named at all. Then it got named "Portal Road" because of the coal mine about a mile away. A year later, some idiot on the township council got the road (well, at least the portion up to the intersection) renamed to Greenhouse Road. What's odd, is that if you go to the left, you're on Portal, but go to the right (towards the mine) you're on Greenhouse. Why did they pick that name? I have no idea--there *was* a greenhouse up there at one time, but it burned down 40 years ago!
Most of the other roads were named for the towns they lead to, or the family that owns (or owned years ago) land on either side.
