Quick and Stupid

So our company started doing Western Union I guess over a year now. It's been the biggest pain to deal with. There's been a number of questionable transactions but not enough to really stop. Though one of our managers made the local news because he stopped an old lady from getting scammed.

Well, the cut off is 10 pm. Guy comes rushing in literally 9:58 tells me "Hi Beautiful" (never seen him before) and says he just has a quick Western Union pickup. Yeah, buddy not happening. Our computers go slow with it and even if everything works right it takes five minutes but that's rare.

By 10:01 guy is rushing out the door because he couldn't get his money.

Quick and stupid describes most of our WU customers too (how do you not know you need to provide ID?). Nothing 'quick' about WU transactions with us either.

Our cutoff is 9PM when the service desk closes. I can't tell you how many people--most of whom none of us have seen before-- come running in at 10:55 (5 minutes to store close) to do money stuff. It even says on the website that our WU closes at 9. (there are others within walking/bus distance open later, but they take zero shit from SCs and the clerks may be armed to discourage said shit).

A common refrain among our SCs is "That's illegal!" Runner-up is "Can't you open it up just for a second?" ...no, that's not the way it works. Even if I did know how to do it I'm not breaking policy (and possibly a law or two) for your butt.
