An older gentleman called in to make a payment. On our computer system (like a lot of call centers), if someone uses the automated system at the beginning of the call and then talks to a representative, their information "pops up" on the screen. Same goes for if the person gets transferred. I just had this conversation:
Me: Obvious
OD: Old Dude
Me: Can I have your mobile number or account number so I can bring up your account?
OD: Awww... Do I have to do all of this again?"
Me: I'm sorry, sir, it didn't pop up for me for some reason this time.
OD: (snickers) That seems to be the story of my life.
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but it was pretty funny.
