Dude comes in holding a couple of empty coffee cups and asks for two refills.
I look at him and say, "You just came in from outside with these cups, and this is the first time I'm seeing you today."
"Yeah, and?"
"No free refills. You only get those during the same visit - you leave the store, you have to buy them all over again."
"Uh...oh. Okay, so how much are a couple of medium double-doubles?"
I told him the price, took his money, and made his coffee.
After he left, one of my managers asked me if I gave him refills. I told her that I made him pay for his coffees and that I told him that I knew he hadn't been in at all today, and that I explained the refill policy. Apparently I'm the first person who has called the guy out on his little act. But then I tend to be the one who catches all of the folks that try this particular scam.
