Back when I was 16, working at OfficeMax (Kings was my 1st job but didn't deal with customers since I washed dishes) I had my first-ever SC.
Had a gentleman come up with a few items, mainly ink cartridges. He grumbled that at Office Depot, they rang them up for him but didn't have them and used his last check (he brought up the ticket for the cartridges, and we made sure the items were physically in the store before ringing them up, and sure enough they were. So all was well - so I thought.
I give him the total and he wants to pay by check. Fine enough - but needed an ID. He goes "I don't carry any identification!" to which I told him I needed it for the check. We probably went through that exchange about 50 times until I got a manager.
Manager came over, and told the guy we needed a form of ID with his name and picture. "I don't carry any identification!" was all he kept saying! However, to get him out, the manager accepted his check without ID
