    I'm glad that cheques aren't really accepted in these parts nowadays. I have never had to accept a cheque in the years that I have dealt with the public. Although people still try to use them *sigh*

      We weren't supposed to accept starter checks, in other words the checks that the bank prints with the account number but the name and address aren't on it (to use until you get your regular checks). Even that was subject to discretion, though; if it was a small transaction and the person had a photo ID we'd usually take it. But large amounts of gift cards on any check is a tad iffy if you ask me. Very easy to go out and use the gift cards before the store ever knows if the check clears or not.

        Yeah. I have a couple of checks in my wallet in case I ever need them, but so far, most places don't even take them. Only my rent gets a check any more, and they know where I live.
