    With most of the companies I buy clothes from online, I always go by the measurements on their sizing chart.

    Then I alter as necessary. (Sewing skills, FTW.)

      Thanks JCG, I was about to say that. I got a new pair of pants last month, 46 waist. They were slightly snug, but not bad so I got them as I knew they'd only get looser on me. Last week I went to try on a pair of shorts as I wanted to expand my wardrobe and they were on sale. I learned two things that day. 1) 46 waist shorts in that brand won't do up in any way shape or form on me, and 2) my legs are hideous abberations that should be hidden under full pants at all times in public.
