It doesn't matter where you go. You're going to run into SC's whether it is in your own store or at the laundromat where you wash your clothes! They're everywhere! I just got back home from the laundry where I wash my clothes (our apartment doesn't have washer/dryer hookups), and I was amazed at how sucky the other patrons were.
I have a love/hate relationship with the laundromat in the first place. I love that I can go there, use as many washers as I need at once, then use as many driers as I need also. My clothes get done so fast that way! Conversely, if I had to do them at home, it would be an all day affair. Put in a load...wait. Put them in the drier...wait. Wash, rinse, repeat. I hate having to lug everything to the car, drive over there, lug everything back out of the car, make sure I have enough quarters, etc.
Today, the sucky customers were out in force. Once I got my clothes all dried, I went to the folding tables and started to put some on it so I could begin folding, when I noticed that someone had spilled liquid fabric softener all over the surface of it! OK...who would do that and then just leave it there?! So, I went into the men's room, got some paper towels dampened and started cleaning up the mess. It was then that I noticed a lady sitting in one of the provided chairs laughing at me! I knew immediately that it was SHE who made the mess and thought it was humorous that I had to clean up her mess before I could use the table.
You may be asking yourself now; "Well why didn't you just move to a different table?"
Answer: I work in retail, and I know what it's like when people leave big messes around my store with the thought; "There are people here who get paid to clean up my mess so I don't have to!" So, I'm not about to leave that mess for the attendant (who has her hands full doing the laundry of those people who are too lazy to do it themselves) to clean up. Even though it wasn't a mess I made.
I always make sure I pick up any drier sheets I may have dropped on the floor before I leave, even though the floor is always littered with them, and have even been known to walk around and pick up a bunch of them while I'm waiting for my clothes to dry. The attendants appreciate my business.
That's just one example of my two hours at the laundromat today.
I firmly believe that every person should have to work in a retail store for a month during their lives so they can see what we have to deal with every day when we go to work. Don't you agree?
