All-in-one front-loading washer/dryers can be wonderful. You need to get a good make, but they can fit in the same sorts of places that a dishwasher can, and use similar-enough hookups that they can probably be installed.

It might take a bit of imagination to fit one in an apartment, and a bit of willingness to do without a particular kitchen or bathroom cupboard, but it'll save you having to use a laundromat.

      1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
      2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
      3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
      4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

I'd rather go to the laundromat than go to the future in-laws' place.

All the laundry gets done in a fraction of the time.

        It's not quite as boring.

        Air conditioning.

        People watching.

And when I DO go to the future in-laws', I'm the ONLY one who cleans the lint trap.

this is why i am hoping to find an apartment with a washer/dryer ... i'd rather have my own and have to wait than lug it all over creation..
When I lived in an apartment, I bought portables. The washer hooked up to the kitchen sink, and the dryer vented out the back door. The only real drawbacks--the dryer took about twice as long to dry a load as the washer took to wash, and if I forgot and used the microwave at the same time as the dryer it would trip the circuit breaker!
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Oh Gods, that would happen at our old apartment too! If we used the Microwave and the Toaster at the same time, it would trip the stupid breaker! The bad thing was, the breaker was in the basement and we weren't allowed a key, so we'd have to go get the old man who lived next door (he was the maintenance guy) to unlock the door and go reset it for us!

I left a load of towels in the washer once... for long enough for them to go mildewy, but only so much that the smell only appeared when you opened the washer.

I had to wash them twice, with a full load scoop of soap each time to kill the smell enough i wouldnt notice. blegh i hate that smell
