I wasn't at work yesterday, but my co-workers told me this. One of my fellow cashiers was ringing up a black guy who had an XM radio. As all of you know, when you ring it up (at least at BB) you have to fill out the subscription information while you're there. Most people have no problem waiting, but this white guy decided that the black guy was taking WAY TOO LONG and started bitching and pissing. He began ranting and raving and the MOD came out to see what was going on (all my managers except 2 are black females....the other 2 are white females). They tried to calm him down to no avail, but life went on.
He finally got up to a register (still angry about the new XM customer). Now here I have to note that our signature pads are wonky (due to use, abuse, and misuse). 2 in particular don't register numbers very well at all (for example, type in '1' and it might come up as '4'). So after he got his total and the guy scanned his debit card, he tried to enter his PIN. Lo and behold, it didn't work. So what does our gentle customer do?
HE PUNCHED THE SIGNATURE PAD AND BROKE IT. He shattered the glass. And then he walks out. My coworkers call the GM and LP and they follow the guy out the door. They were thinking they'd press charges, make him pay for it, or at least ban him from the store temporarily...ya know...SOME kinda punishent. Ya know what they did?
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! NOT A DAMN THING!
They asked the guy why he did it, and he said "I was frustrated for having to wait so long."
*sigh*...Customer Service can REALLY suck sometimes. Glad I wasn't there!
