  • Just shoot me...

    Long story short:

All of our furniture is imported. We have about 20 deliveries scheduled today.

US. Customs did not let us unload the boat and we just found out this morning. The cargo ship that had our customers furniture is being blocked by customs.

Why? I have no idea. Our warehouse didn't know until last night when the shipment didn't come in

    SO!

Guess who has to call all 20 customers and tell them that they won't be delivered today because the furniture didn't come in?

I'll post with updates. This is gonna be good.

Halfway done. Let's see...three people were understanding, four wanted a refund, and three were demanding that I do something about it and no answer I gave was good enough.

It's not US, assholes! We want to get you the furniture because we don't get commission until it ships!

Must not kill...must not kill... :curls up into a ball:

For those people who are gonna just be bastards no matter what way you put the bad news to them, maybe you should try beating them to the punch!

Go off about before they have the chance about how much you loathe the US government, about how all it ever does is get in the way of freedom and big brother and 1984 and blah blah blah...

Just maybe, they'll try and act like the civil ones and be more understanding.

With all the wiretapping I'd have some guys in black suits show up at my work before we closed today.

            Per your request...

            BANG!

I had to do a similar outcall when the manufaturers of particular electric ride-on toys that we hate vehemently failed to give appropriate information on their website and the order was screwed up. Fortunately and in spite of preparing for shout-downs, everyone was most understanding. One guy even went so far as to say "well, it's not your fault. I'm in no hurry." It was pretty gratifying.

That sounds like something i would say.

Cept my gripe about the gaming industry.

Release date for game is say, May 25th
You show up with preorder ticket on May 25th. and get a Sorry, game doesnt come out til tommorrow. the 25th was the shipping date, not the actually release date. See you tommorrow.

I know its the industry, not the clerks, but man this REALLY urks me.
specially for games i really really want to play. like, take a day off work to get them kind of want to play.

Atleast i know now, to expect it the day after. So it doesnt catch me unawares, but still its a pain.

*for the record i have never actually taken a day off work for the sole purpose of getting/playing a video game, but i think when Mass Effect comes out, I just might*

kusanagi, were you someone really bad in a past life, because with your level of suffering, i'm really begining to wonder.

as for customs, were they afraid of terrorist hiding anthrax in the cushions or something equally foolish?
                look! it's ghengis khan!

Ah, the joys of having product coming in through customs.

I once had a shipment that I was expecting (not sold, thankfully) that was delayed approximately 4 weeks because customs decided they needed to inspect that particular incoming shipment.

Then they sent everybody they inspected a bill for their services.

                  ^-.-^

I hate to break this to you, but it often is the clerks.

Too many times have I heard the tale of the clerk who insists that Tuesday was the ship date, not the sale date, but the customer checked with the store's website which said Tuesday was the sale date, and at least once he actually found a copy of the game in question in the shipment that had come in on Tuesday, which the clerks hadn't unpacked yet.

We need to be fair, I think: while the world is full of Sucky Customers, there are a fair number of Sucky Clerks out there making life harder for the rest of us (since people who are used to dealing with them tend to assume all Sales Associates are lazy and/or stupid.

Geez, Kus, I think that all that crap you went through last year, especially with Ghetto Superstar, has left some pretty bad vibes around you and your workplace. It sounds like it's time for a real cleansing.

Also, I think you really need a vacation. I understand perfectly how hard it can be to get time off (I just canceled a week off I had scheduled this month), but it sounds like you really need to get away mentally and physically.

                      Good Luck!

BTW, how's the card school going?
