A few years ago, I was at a zoo and me and my parents were looking at the lions, when this woman came up to us with her kid and said:

"Excuse me, do you know where the unicorns are?"

My dad was so shocked I thought he was going to fall backwards into the lion enclosure.
What's the betting that if you'd have said "Sorry, unicorns don't exist" she probably would have sued you for the psychological damage done to her bratling?
"...Muhuh? *blink-blink* >_O *roll over* ZZZzzz......"

I thought everyone knew that the Unicorns wouldn't get on Noah's ark, so they drowned.
Same with dragons and faries. I hope you have the ability to asexually reproduce, merman!

Fact is...dragons are not real. They have fairy "fact" books as well....are they real? No. We also sell Wizardology.....not real.
I beg to differ....and I'm being completely serious. Dragons and faeries do exist. Just not on this plane. I've seen and experienced too much not to believe. Juwl's also correct about some being in human form. I know one.

What? Dragons aren't real? But Harry Potter fought one and HE'S real! Maybe that woman wasn't nuts, just in touch with her inner child.

You should have gotten her a 'fact' book on Komodo dragons.

Thank you. I was going to mentioned that also. Dragons do exist, they just don't look like the ones in fairy tales

I would have grabbed a book about bearded dragons, myself.

*Points to horse corral* Oh you can't see the horn? Unworthy bitch. :P

But seriously, you don't put unicorns in cages!
              Bwahahahaha!

              .....

              *snicker*

But yeah. Everyone knows you can't put unicorns in cages. Trust me, I know unicorns.

As for dragons... the belief in dragons is really too universal to be purely fantasy.

yeah, but to think you'd find a fact book in a regular bookstore? She's crazy.

Yeah, and the Matrix was a documentary.
Actually, the Matrix was a modern take of the allegory of the cave. An ancient philisophical thought experiment where people are chained in a cave their whole lives, with a fire behind them, and shapes casting shadows on the wall, and that is all those people have known. One day, a man comes down and breaks the chains holding these people in the cave, and takes them into the sunlight and shows them the real world. How would these people react to finding out their whole lives have been lies?

Besides, if that was a knock against people's belief in at least the possibility of dragons, I'd thank you to not do that, as it's very much akin to saying "Your religion is stupid." If that wasn't you intent, I apologize for jumping to the conclusion, but you may want to clarify.

I never get bent out of shape when people state an opinion that happens to include thinking that my beliefs are silly, regardless of what realm those beliefs fall under.

I have far too much faith in my own beliefs to let someone else's lack of belief be anything more than a passing blip on my radar.

... unless, of course, it is the right sort of forum for me to give my side and see if I can't semi-passively convert a few fence-sitters to my side of thinking... I love a good debate and have gotten people to change to my side of the argument even when the topic was based on religion or politics. One of the benefits of being openminded is being able to see the other person's side and then use their own beliefs and logic to tell them why my side is actually more reasonable.
