Hi everyone
I've been reading CS since it first started under Mr. Slugger, and now that I've gotten back into customer service, I've felt the need to post again. Thank god for this site
I'm back at McDonald's after being gone for 7 years, and I had a winner today that is the cause of today's post.
I was in the first booth of the drive-thru, and I had a guy place an order at the speaker. No big deal, right? Well he gets up to my window, and he's on ...a bike. And no, not a motorcycle, not even a scooter, but a 10-speed. And towing around 2 little kids (as in, toddler age little kids) in one of those contraptions that you can get to attach to bikes for family rides to boot. I'm sure my face was
There is a reason we have the policy of only taking people who are in cars, trucks, vans, etc through the drive-thru. To get to our first window, you have to drive around a very sharp, blind cornor. As in, no one can see anything going around that cornor. As in, it would have taken just one speeding car and those kids would have been dead.
I opened up my window and told the guy very abruptly that I could not serve him and he needed to come inside as there were cars coming through the drive thru. So he came inside and complained about me to the shift runner. Thank god I'm a manager too, so I couldn't really get in trouble or anything.
He complained that I was "rude". Well, sorry your precious little feelings got hurt Mr. Man, but better you have hurt feelings than your kids being hurt/dead. My main concern was getting you and your kids out of our drive-thru ASAP, nothing else. Still can't figure out how he got the sensor to go off when he was just on a bike
