In my department (bakery) we have one large entrance to the back room from the sales floor(white) to the back room(dark red tile) (wide enough to get a pallet through on load days) when we don't have a load this makes that area a great spot to put racks (sometime warm) of product that we need to put out. Keep in mind when we do this the racks are a few feed into to the back room and a few feet behind the "Employees Only" sign. Customers will wander back and take product off the racks, sometimes product that is baked, but not packaged. When we tell them to step out of the back room more often than not they get a major attitude (like I just tome them to jump in from of a bus) Usually it is why? Well jackass, we have racks that just came out of a 400 F oven, slippery floors (from crumbs) wet floors at night, a back room where we prepare food, knives, etc, etc. I have actually had a old lady complain to the mgr when I told he to stay out of the back room, she was way past the entrance about 10 feet in the back rm. said I was rude. Mgr blew he off when she admitted to begin in the back room. She said she was curious.
Once I had a guy walk into the back room than about 5-10 feet behig the counter and into the freezer. I basically to told him to "get out of the damn freezer NOW" After a few "buts" I escorted him to the sales floor, slammed the freezer door closed, and gave him a employees only sign lecture. The first thing out of his mouth after my lecture about not going in back rooms was "but i wanted to treat you like another human and being so i didn't want to say "hello" from the counter.
After a few more "human being" lines from him he asked his question, "do you have any X in stock." after a trip in the freezer I saw we had one left, I told hem we were out of stock.
He complains to the manager later and says I was rude. Never mentioning the whole freezer thing. Mgr calls me and say he has a customer mad that I was rude to him. I told the mgr "did he tell you he went in my freezer" Mger doesn't hang up phone and I her him ask the quy that, guy finally admits that, mgr tells him to get lost. Guy writes/calls corp complains mgr and my self were rude never mentions freezer. Corp calls GM, gm asks myself and the mgr involved and checked CCTV tapes. Corp tell him to get lost.
