Ok this is only my second post so bear with me.
I currently work part time at a community center (7 years and counting) and one of our major issues is people sneaking in. I was working the front desk with the evening full-timer H. As I'm standing there I see three guys walk in and walk through the gate on the side (there are 2 ways to enter the center on the left and right, the right being the main way. One of the most used tactics to sneak in is to wait till we're busy at the other side and just waltz in). H and I see them and both ask to see their membership cards. They claim ignorance saying they were just coming in to check the place out. . .BS i think, but i play along (i've got no real authority to punish, just enforce). I offer to give them a guided tour of the facility when one of my superiors L (the assistant P&R director for our township, we're a gvt facility) comes up and says, no you guys just tried to sneak in, we watched you, give me your names and get out. They look stunned and bolt out the door.
Found out later they had it planned out, a member came up to H and was asking her stupid questions about his membership, she was thinking diversion right of the bat. Plus L and B (the P&R director, no one higher than him) watched these 3 guys mill about outside and wait for us to be busy before they came in. So H and I got a pat on the back for catching them.
The worse part is, for every 1 we catch 3 probably make it past us, it's just not possible to catch them all. /sigh
