  • It was a full moon tonight: arrests, attempted coupon fraud and more

    Idiot 1:

First incident at the the grocery store. BF/GF go up to the service desk to buy formula. While GF is "looking" for her money BF grabs a jar and bolts for the door, GF follows suit with second jar. BF makes it to car and leaves while GF trips on high heeled shoes. LP catches GF and watches her while MOD makes copy of tapes for Police. GF goes to jail.

    Idiot 2:
About 7:45 PM I had a older lady come up to the bakery register and want to purchase a coffee. Why anyone would want a coffee when it is 90 degrees with high humidity is beyond me. I ring up the small coffee and tell he the total. She asks if there is a senior discount. I tell her there is none, but she insists I give it to her. I tell he i can not change the price. She then asks who to talk to to get one. I tell her that policy decision like this are made at the corp office and you need to contact them if you think we should offer a discount. We don't make those types of price changes in store. She says she won't contact them. she says"They WILL contact me with out me telling them to." I reiterate that I can and will get he the phone # for the office but she must call them otherwise they will not know about her complaint. She says she will think about it. I tell her the total again, then she DEMANDS that I charge he for a less expensive item, say a bagel instead of the coffee. I tell he again I can not do that. She says "you will do it for me NOW, young man, or else I WILL GET YOU FIRED FOR DISRESPECTING AN OLD LADY!!" Sure, whatever. I finally get to to make a decision on the coffee, she eventually pays full price than asks for my name. I point to my name and cashier ID on the receipt. She asks if I am lying so I won't get fired. I point to my nane badge. Satisfied she leaves, and about two minutes lated the head cashier collects my drawer. 15-20 min. later She is back wanting a soda. She puses the closed sign on to the floor, throws the money on the counter and says "THIS IS A S-O-D-A NOT A COFFEE DON OVER CHARGE ME, YOU DUMB KID! I tel her that my register is closed, as the sign said. Again she says I am lying and disrespecting old people. I call the manger to help her. He leads her up front to ring up the soda and her purchase (1 box of tissues). She pays goes up the the service desk, asks for the manager. She will not speak with anyone but the manager. She demands a refund for the tissues because she is not happy with the service, will have every employee in the store fired, walks outside, throws the still full soda against the wall and leaves.

    Idiot 3:
At about 8:50 I am bring the last of the back shop that i find in my dept to the carriages in the front. I see the self-scan cashier helping a lady. No big deal. I do a few more small tasks and punch out at 9PM. Then I go about my shopping to get a few last minute things. I see a fellow off-duty co-worker and we talk for a few minutes. By the time I finish shopping and pay it as about 25min later. The same lady above is now bitching and whining to the MOD, Head cashier, and self-scan cashier like a three yo. one minute and a adult the the next min. As walk out another cashier is leaving also. I ask her what the issue with that lady is. She was tring to use an expired, MFG coupon for items that were not on the coupon. She wanted us to give her money off for something she didn't have with a old cpn. she claimed that the competitor across the street would honor the coupon. I had a friend who worked fro the competitor and I knew that they could not. The cashier said she changed her story at least 10 times hoping to get her way, she eventually bought the item for full price.

I feel sorry for the MOD. I bet he will have along smoke break after all the paper work from the evenings events is finished.

Never would've guessed it was a soda... seeing as it's in a can! And it's sweating, which means you got it from the cooler.
(Yes, I know Starbucks now sells coffee in cans...)

      Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......

......it's fun reading these posts about idiots that think that service is a God-given Constitutional right and that anyone in business MUST serve someone. Yeah uh huh. Yeah well I'm selling a copy of Windows XP online because I dont need it anymore and have someone try to push me around like THAT. I reserve the right to tell them to "Suck my ass hard!" and WILL exercise that right if I damn well please!

And BF gets away, no jail time?

        Unfair.

And ladies, if you're going to steal, wear flat shoes. It's easier.

Yeah, how many times do us girls need to be reminded to wear the proper shoes for the activity?! Yeesh.

If they need money for formula that bad, they could easily be on WIC. Formula thieves, at least around here, are more likely to take that stuff to the flea market to sell. Along with razors and Prilosec and Crest Whitestrips...

I could never understand people who get HOT coffee when it's about 90 degrees out. My mom's explanation was that some people don't like iced coffee first thing, which I could understand if they consumed it in the air-conditioned store, but walking outside with it?!

The explanation I got handed to me was that it raises the body's temperature, causing the person to sweat more, which cooled them off faster, and also since there's less of a difference between body temp and outside temp, it doesn't feel as bad.

my explantion is they are all addicted freaks.

I've watched people go for a jog in the summer, sweat pouring off of them, drinking coffee, bonus if they are smoking a cigarette too.

I doubt you'll be seeing her again, but if you do, try this:
"I'll make you a deal: I will treat you with respect if you will treat me with respect. If you will not treat me with respect, ... well, we do reserve the right to refuse service."

Actually, the full moon is tomorrow, but the effects do tend to bleed over to the day before and the day after. Plus there was a lunar eclipse this morning.

Oh, dear....sounds like somebody got away from the home again. Seriously, what is it with old people? I'm sorry, but just because you've lived X number of years doesn't automatically grant you respect. It's a two way street.
