Damn straight.
Boy, did I have a doozy of a customer yesterday. For the record, I am very good at my job, always polite and helpful, and always in a good mood. Until you do something VERY stupid (little mistakes don't bother me). I work at a candy store (to remind people) and I'm the regular morning person five days of the week for the last three months, and I've been working here for ten. If I'd seen a lady with this much entitlement attitude before, I would have remembered. All thoughts are in italics.
Me: The most stunning person you've ever had talk you into being bad and buying that candy you've been eyeing.
M: My manager
SC: The biggest entitled *****
Me: *filling candy in the back but my door is open and I have a sensor that tells me when people come in.*
Sensor: Dingdongdingdongdingdong...
Me: *head out and open my mouth to start my standard cheery greeting*
SC: *already stuffed candy in her mouth--big no-no* I ate a piece of candy!
Me: Like I couldn't tell that. Moron.
SC: *gets a better look at me* Ohhhh, you're the one who takes her job very seriously!
Me: It's going to be one of those...Have we met? I suppose so. Ma'am, if you could please not eat the candy until you pay for it. It's theft.
SC: What are you going to do, call security if I won't pay for it?
Me: You are so going down now, *****. Yes.
SC: Why don't you go do that then?
Me: *all happiness gone and I can't resist such a challenge* Fine. I will. *head toward the back for the phone, keeping an eye on her*
SC: *yelling after me* You know, your manager said I could do it anytime I came in!
Me: He's here right now, so why don't I get him for you. Little liar, M would rather ban you than say that. *I go in the back and tell M, grabbing the phone and getting ready to call security*
Now, M is a very soft-spoken man so I did not hear anything he said in response to Miss Screechy but she kept going on, complaining about me directly for over ten minutes, saying I followed her around and breathed on her neck whenever she came in the store and never left her alone and always stuffed my mouth with candy but yelled at anyone for doing so. Like. Hell. I do watch them for the very reason she just demonstrated, but often I say nothing and just charge them extra. And I never eat candy, much less when other customers are in the store. I buy my own bag and munch in the back if I need it. She kept telling him she "understood" we were a small change store and had to keep track of inventory, etc etc. If she HAD understood, she wouldn't have tried to steal. For that, I would have charged her for the candy eaten and an additional two or three for being a moron (yes I can do a "moron tax" and I love it).
M eventually wrung her up and out (yes, she stayed and got herself a bag) and told me that if I saw her again, leave her alone and just charge her extra if any eating goes on. As she was getting her candy I helped three customers cheerfully and annoyingly happily, showing her what would have happened if she hadn't decided to get on my bad side. I wish I could remember her from any previous transactions though. That attitude never gets forgotten.
