Alright, for those who don't know, I've worked at a small, local custard stand for the past 6 years, just recently quit and moved out of state.
Anyways, this happened one day when I opened with a coworker/friend of mine, Kim.
We get in at 10:30am and open at 11:00am. It gives us time to start making the custard and yogurt flavors of the day, fill toppings, etc. Right as we open at 11:00, the phone rings. It's a lady asking about our hot dogs. Hot dogs and bags of chips are the only non-dessert items we offer. She asks if they're all-beef (they are), are they good (they are, they're the only ones I eat), and the prices.
Alright whatever, I've gotten weirder phone calls. I go back to making custard. A few minutes later, phone rings again. This time Kim grabs it. It's the same lady asking about hot dogs again. Not exactly sure what she asked, but just more inane questions.
We go back to working. A bit later, the phone rings again. And it's again her. Kim grabs it again and now she's asking about the prices for dishes, our flavors, and now more custard-related questions. Alright, that's a bit more normal.
Working again. About 20 minute later, a woman comes up and orders several hot dogs/chili dogs and a few dishes of custard. Ends up being the same lady who called those three times. Awesome. We make all her items and hand them out all at once. I announce her items with a smile and give them to her.
This is where it gets interesting.
Crazy Lady: Which ones the all-beef hot dog?
Me: *confused* Umm...They're all all-beef.
CL: All of them? I only wanted one all-beef hot dog!
Me: *still confused* Uhh...We only sell all-beef hot dogs *thinking - what else does she want? A tofurkey dog?*
CL: *leaves in unhappy huff*
Not so much sucky, just very odd...I told my manager about this and he seemed to get hung up on it for days, just not understanding what else this lady could have been referring to.
