I don't see our customers, since I'm in a call center, but it doesn't stop people from accusing me of being a racist.

I'm a racist because I don't speak Spanish, Chinese or whatever language the caller is using. I really don't have the time to learn every single language on earth nor the desire.

I'm a racist because they got turned down for credit, even though I don't make the decision on who gets credit or not.

I'm a racist because I turned down a date with a person of another race. You know, because it couldn't possibly be because I'm happily married. Nope, it's because I'm a flaming racist.

Ohh, those are the ones that will piss me off, royally, because, being a Southerner, I'm one who will be polite and try to give you a hint about it before I come right out and say "You have a better chance at winning Powerball without buying a ticket, now piss off."

True story, one time, this SC had the gall to come right out and ask me my measurements! After I picked my jaw up off the ground, I gave him an "eat shit and die" look, and just flat told him "None of your damned business, asshole!" I'd already gone off the clock to go to lunch, so, if anyone wanted to have gotten technical with me about it, that would've been my second argument, along with the fact that this asshat didn't understand what "no, not even if you were the last man on earth, and it meant the human race dying out." meant. Fortunately, my boss at the time was really cool, and, when I got back from lunch, I just flat told him that I refuse to have anything to do with that person anymore, and, he understood. Of course, I also told him that I'd've given the next month's pay if my old man or my daddy would've come in about the time that asshole said what he said, too.

On of my coworkers is asian and jokes around about it a lot. He also likes calling people racist, I'm not sure if he's joking or serious half the time. Anyways my comeback to his accusations was "It takes one to know one." Not the best thing since it's like partly admitting you are racist but it does have a good impact.

And since when do you have to be white to be racist? Whites are generally stereotyped as racist (after all the crap we pulled long ago) but that doesn't mean other races can't be racist. Black people can be racist against whites (which is understandable but still uncalled for)

Im as nice as you make me..

I am 36, have worked for this certain retail place for 10 years, then quit due to my fathers death, then came back 3 1/2 years later. I can tell you I deal with things differently since my father's death, and I find that I get quite angry at rude people (rude being an understatement for these stupid a$$es.) Im not racist, I am a white woman with several african american mixed marriage/single friends, so race isnt a thing with me. Not untill I get on the job. Im a cashier and know what im doing. What is it with people of the opposite race who come in and treat others around you nice, but when they get to you they grunt at you shove the money at you and curse you in there lauguage, or in there slang. What do I have my head screwed on backwards? I told this one hispanic woman that cursed me in spanish, being very hatefull to me and I didnt know her. She turns to others and is so sweet then shoves the money at me calling me something very sexist to me. I didnt understand her, but I knew enough to know what she was doing, again im not stupid. I get enough of her racist crap that it makes me just as hatefull. I lean forward and make one of my crazy faces showing my full range of anger towards her. People stop talking and know it's gone way too far now.
I say to her aloud "I dont care that you hate white people, I dont even care that for some reason you hate me, BUT IF YOU EVER CALL ME YOUR NAMES AGAIN ILL SHOW YOU WHAT ONE IS LADY!!" then i called her a name in english and her eyes got wide, and she left as if she was scared silly.

Im nto racist, but what makes me act that way is racist people who you KNOW are, by the way they treat you. Yes I can look at a person and tell wether they are or not usually. You work with the public for a long time and you can read people well most of the time.

I dont get it, I am nice, but not buttery nice, im human, I do my work becuase I care for my disabled mother and by god I have a life and it isnt there.

Not to mention for the last 11 years ive worked for this company these two african american women come in talkign loud and cursing me accusing me of crap I didnt do, makign a scene, purposly emberassing me to get something free, or to satisfy there racist additudes. Now when they come through my line i leave them there. Ive had it with idiots.

Im a church goer but im very different, I dont act like im perfect. yet these elderly penticostals size me up and are very hatefull and mean to me out of the blue. The husband who looked nice enough jerks the bag spindle out of my hand in a vile voice saying 'I DONT WANT THE BACKS PACKED THAT FULL!!!" my carpal tunnel hurt for two weeks after he did that. I was in shock. As thety left i said "have a good day brother, sister..god bless." they stared at me and left like high and mighty idiots. I sware it's people like this that make the rest of us look bad. I sware next time they come in my line im turning off my light and leaving them there. Let them stand there. to hell with them.

why do i constantly get met with this racist hypocritical crap from people when ive done nothing wrong. Im jsut there to do a job, make friends with the customers I can and believe it or not, have laughs with my co workers. In some slight ways I do like my job..but in a lot of ways...i hate it. God deliever me...im sick of dealing with idiots.

Madder than hell and not going to take it anymore...or will I?

          wavez the cashier..
          The force is with us...

Although I can see what you're trying to say I still take umbrage with that statement; racism bigotry and hatred should not be tolerated in any form, nor should it be condoned as all it will do is breed more hatred.

Sadly, I have met many more racist minorities (especially blacks) than racist white people. I grew up in New York City, and most white people don't even notice racial differences - I judge people based on how the dress and how they speak, not their skin. However, even in that city, some black people honestly believe that every white person is a racist bastard out to get them, which actually makes the black person racist.

Addiitonally, I have been called the a n****r literally thousands of times, despite being a pasty-white Russian Jew. I grew up in Harlem. It wasn't until after I left home for college that I ever actually heard it used as a racial slur.

I have just deleted a long post I had written that would have gotten me hit with the fratching-stick rather hard. Instead, I'll just say this:

I am damn tired of being painted with the racial guilt brush for events I had no part of, and would have fought against if I had been. I am deeply insulted by being lumped into such a group. All German's were not Nazis, all whites were not racist.

I'm sorry; I don't recall what I pulled long ago. Because I'm fairly certain you're referring to things that occurred before I was born, or perhaps to things that are more recent but in which I have played no part. Therefore, I'm unsure of what you mean by "understandable but still uncalled for." People refer to the racism of others as understandable in very specific circumstances, and I'm not sure it's appropriate to use it in such a blanket statement. Just a note: Not insinuating that you approve of the racism, since you call it uncalled for. I'd just like to know what you find understandable, exactly.

I hate being called White. Hate it with a passion.

First point: I am not white, I happen to be a tawny color, if we're going to play call-it-by-color.

Second point: If you insist I call you WhateverYourFamilyWas-American, don't you dare call me white. That's Saxon-American or Native American to you, buster!

Third point, and this is the kicker: On census and social security data, to all legal intents and purposes, I AM NOT "WHITE". I'm a NATIVE. Just cause I don't look like friggin' Pocahontas doesn't mean you can slap me into a convenient box for people with lighter skin or whatever.

I love being called racist. It gives me a chance to vent a little frustration on some poor moron who thought they had an entitlement excuse. "Minorities" cannot play the It's-because-I'm-A-Minority thing on me. In CA the majority ARE minorities, and besides, your people cannot possibly have a sob story worse than any of my people. Highland Clearances, Long March, Eradication orders, name it. I see your tragedy and raise you an Everybody-Else-Has-Problems-Too.

Sorry I was a bit careless with my wording there. By "we" I was more or less refering to Amercia. Even still not the best wording.

By understandable, I mean I can understand why they would think white people are out to get them, after their ancestors being enslaved, opressed, and whatnot then proceeding to impart their views on future generations creating an outdated mindset. Whereas I do not understand where white racists come from. I read an article written way-back-when by pro-slavery guy. His reasoning was just that the economy relied on it and allowed America to prosper. Well of course free labor would help the economy but I don't understand how people being too lazy to do their own chores justifies deeming an entire race inferior, enslaving them, and beating them if they don't do "their" jobs.

I think you answered your own question:

their ancestors...proceeding to impart their views on future generations creating an outdated mindset.
Sound like a worthless excuse? I'd say so. In other words, everyone has the same stupid "reasons," and in this day and age, it's totally unacceptable. I think we'll have to agree to disagree on it being "understandable." I only find it understandable if someone had, say, honestly bad experiences in the 60s or something. Even then, I expect some kind of, I dunno, discretion in public. If that makes sense.

I have been, but it wasn't by a customer, it was by a coworker. I had two coworkers with the same first and last names, they had the same color hair and the same build, one was black and one was white. I was telling another coworker that I was going to a party at "girl's name"'s house. She asked me which one, I said "the black one." Apparently I should have found some other way to distinguish them because that was unacceptable

I always say "I'm not white, I'm carmel!" (this really only works if you're a girl and you wear foundation, you can just insert whatever shade name you wear, for instance, ivory, honey, sand, etc etc etc). I say carmel because my skin is the same color as the carmel Starbucks frappucinos I love so much.
