On a happy note, only 1 more unemployment payment coming, 'cause I start my new job on Monday.
Congratulations, I started my new job a couple of days ago. Looks like jobs are finally coming to Oregon!

Back OT, good going, AmericanZero for stopping a scam artist! It's wonderful that your company recognized you for your action.

But what I don't get is that:
      A) You still get "paychecks" in the US.
      B) You can cash those checks in stores instead of banks.

Well...if youre Wayne Brady you just go down a side street and your bitches are your bank AND ATM and there is no fee.

      I just couldnt resist.

I love to direct deposit my checks. Ever since I first had an account and a job, I would do that.

First, why is it a "no-no" that the two addresses were different? Is that something standard or your store's policy?
Standard. The check gets mailed to you. Your ID should have your home address on it. If the two don't match, there's an issue somewhere. The person may have moved, but it's still up to him to change his ID.

If the address on the check and the address on the ID don't match, then our store policy is to not accept it. I could imagine some desperate person going to someone's house with the same name as theirs and getting a check out of the box.

I hear its pretty common policy at the local banks too. There are other things that I look for on the check and ID too that verifies authenticity. The only thing I don't like are paychecks from the ADP company. They don't print the employee's address on there and only provides a 1-800 number for verification. Yeah that's what I want to do, be put on hold in India for 80 minutes so I can cash this kids 65 dollar check.

See this is why I'm glad the last store I worked at didn't even take checks. We saved ourselves so much bs.
