I keep hearing people talk about the "GS" situation, but when I tried searching the boards I couldn't find that story, could someone be so kind as to point me in the right way

I don't know what Big Bad Military Person said or did, but it worked.
Firstly, YAY Fellow Scadian! That's where I got my board login!

Secondly, I'm BBMP had just one word for that.

      "Bye."

Howdy, howdy, fellow "Weirdo In Funny Clothes."

Maybe so, we'll never know. But she was making a pretty creepy nuisance of herself, threatening said guy's female roomate, calling all hours, sitting in cars outside his place.

She drove literally halfway across the country to do all this. I think she may have seen him at Gulf Wars (Big annual SCA event, not the "real" Gulf War). He was a bit of a "popular heartthrob." If the BBMP hadn't been able to do something, I really don't know what the solution would have been. Stalkers are persistant. REALLY persistant. But yeah, apparently, their influence is very, very great on their subordinates.

Harassment stopped IMMEDIATELY. Which frankly suprised me becuase it's usually easier to get rid of a body louse infestation than it is to get rid of a stalker. I don't know what Big Bad Military Person said or did, but it worked.
Through my copious friends and family in the military, I have seen COs completely mess up a soldier's life when they get a complaint like that coming down the line. I even have one verified case of a person getting put on an immediate transfer to Thule AFB, Greenland. Let me tell you, that is one place you do not want to get posted to.

Wife of a Marine Corporal here.... who's laughter brought her husband into the room.

My husband says if you called his CO saying that he was verbally harassing and threatening bodily harm, the CORPORAL would be knocked back to Private First Class and Non-recommended for promotion a few times. So yeah, calling his CO would bring his life to an abrupt halt.

All that said, I think you handled it quite well. That jerk needed to be knocked down a few pegs. What a disgrace, to the Corps and to HUMANITY.

My dad was in the Air Force, some of the stories I heard from him just add to what everyone's saying. COs /love/ to have a side of a misbehaving soldier's hide with a glass of sherry.

His story of having an officer rip him a new one came from a lack to follow procedure. He was walking to the barracks from the base laundromat, with his duffle bag slung over his shoulder with his right hand. A pair of high ranking officers (I do believe one happened to be a General) walked past, and dad saluted them... with his left hand.

His ass was sore for weeks after that one. With this guy's situation, I don't think he would have had an ass left to sit on.

I would have loved to join the Army when I was younger...I actually did some physical tests and beat some of their guys at a few of them. But they couldn't take me because I had asthma. Bummer.

Probably for the best because I think I'm way too scrappy for something that requires that much discipline anyway.

I actually have a funny/brutal Marine story...this was a good one, though, this lady and I were friendly throughout.

A few years ago I competed in a Toughman boxing contest. I won second place in the women's division. First place went to a 40-year-old mother of two who I outweighed by a good 30 pounds. I figured piece of cake. I mean, she looked pretty rough, but at the time, I looked like a red-haired Little Debbie and I had progressed through the rounds without a sweat, so appearences mean nothing.

First round was pretty competitive, I batted her around, she batted me around, all was good. Second round, I landed a really nasty punch straight to her nose. The next thing I knew, the match was over, she won, and there was an alarming amount of blood coming out of my mouth. I asked her about it afterwards, and yes, she was a Marine twenty years earlier. Half her life later, she was still able to ruin someone's day in less than a minute.

I thought it was pretty damn funny once I could hear anything and see in color again.

My cousin joined the Air Force right out of high school and for some reason decided he no longer had to communicate with his parents. After several weeks they became concerned and tried to contact him. The number didn't work and the address had changed because he had been moved to a different base. So now my aunt and uncle were really worried. My aunt found out that to hunt him down they had to go through the Red Cross so they did. The Red Cross finally get back to them after several more days and inform them that cousin is fine. Apparently though, cousin's CO had a soft spot for new recruit's parents and the importance of keeping in touch with them coupled with the fact that the Red Cross had to be involved. Suffice to say it never happened again!

Sometimes, more than just that. Soldier Boy wanted to hang with us over leave, since we were really close and his mother called his CO and claimed that we'd tainted him and we bad influences. The CO made him stay with her and wouldn't let us see him, until we called and gave our side of the story.

CO then called Mom and said, "Lie to the USMC one more time, lady, and I CAN order your son not to see you." I don't know if she could but she was super nice to us after that.

I'm reminded of a Photoshopped comic book cover I saw on Something Awful.
It was entitled, "Adventures of The US Marines" or somesuch, with the subtitle, "My Lai", and had a Marine on the cover firing his rifle repeating the words "GET SOME!"

                      I lal'd.
