What an ass. Maybe he spent all of his money on the damn car and now he can't afford the second room. Would serve him right.

He probably did. Those cars are only good as status symbols, and if the person who owns that vehicle really could afford it, they a) would not be going to any old hotel, and b) would not ask for only one room since they could afford to rent two. I seriously hope this guy learned his lesson. That's disgusting.

Dont surprise me at all. The typical bully gets stood up to and then goes to the cops and "Cries Victim". Except that, unlike this jerkoff, the camera dont lie. What a major tool. Nail his ass in court for anything you want. You got the power of videotape (the BEST witness you can possibly have) on your side.

BTW Spitting IS a crime. It's known as "Assault By Bodily Fluids". Legally it's the same as dumping urine on someone.

That's really nice of you to let him go and not press charges. I've been dumped on so much my life that anyone that goes up against me like this gets NO MERCY. Hell you oughtta put ME in charge of that war over there. Bin Laden would have been dead meat long, long ago!

If anyone ever spit on me, I'd punch them in their fucking loser face. Job or no job. That has to be the most degrading thing you can do to someone.

I respectfully disagree. I was talking to a customer in the supermarket the other day, who was a waitress. I told her the worst thing a customer had ever done to me (psycho man who yelled and swore at me and made me cry; think I posted about him somewhere on here) and she told me about the worst thing that had happened to her; ie some nasty perv grabbing her butt. O_o I'd say that was more degrading.

Anyway, I personally would have pressed charges and seen his arse in jail for doing that.

Hate to burst a bubble here, but...

If he admits it under caution and If he has no prior convictions for a single spit he would probably get a caution. Thats it.

Yes he'll get arrested and spend time in a police cell, have a lovely photo taken and DNA sample etc but he won't have any jail time from it.

That's what I meant; a cell is a cell. So no bubble bursting for me.

And someone like that has very likely done it before. O_o

since no one else has commented on it, I think i will. What the SC doesn't seem to understand is that maximum persons aren't arbitrary numbers, 99% of the time those are because of fire code, and yes that would definitely be slick's problem if someone reported it and he got fined.

I really did want to let this idiot go to jail, but I felt bad for the 2 children that looked scared. If it was just the man, or even if his ignorant wife was there, I would have let him spend the night, or at least a few hours, in jail.

I just didn't care to have to see that idiot again, I wanted him and the thought of what he did to me gone. Whether or not he learned his lesson, thats not something I will ever know, all I know is, I taught him that he can't be a douche to just anyone and get away with it.

I got another "its not your problem" story, new thread coming soon.

                        Slick:

Kudos to you for maintaining your calm and not letting the situation get any worse. I have to admit that if someone had spit on me it would have certainly crossed my mind to retaliate in some form or another.

Hopefully being put in cuffs and into a cell will deter him from future stupidity, and if nothing else it shows his wife his "real" side and gets him out of your hair.

In the worst possible case, it would be the customer's problem - and that of his family. Trying to get everyone out during an actual fire.

The original poster did the right thing, IMO, several times over. In refusing to let the customer over-fill a room, in refusing to let the customer intimidate him, in not responding with violence to the assault, and in calling the police to show the customer that the OP was in no way intimidated by the bullying.

If the customer continues his pattern of behaviour, sooner or later there'll be a warrant out for his arrest. Then he'll spit on some other clerk with the same balls as the OP, the cops will be called, and he WILL find himself having some nice time in the state's hotel facility for wayward asshats.

                          1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
                          2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
                          3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
                          4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

i know at least the first part of this story is true, the second half might be an urban myth. But a few years ago in a chicago hotel fire code maximum occupancy was 4 per room. One family put 5 in a room, with the youngest child sleeping in a sleeping bag. Hotel caught on fire, fire department pulled 4 people out of the room (because there is never more than 4 in the room, why look for more), young child dies, and there are 2 versions of the story after that, one says the hotel had huge fines for violating fire code, another ending says the hotel was sued by the family, neither of which is something that slick wants to deal with.
That is the story the tell us during training, and I know that at least 2 of my coworkers have been written up for making reservations for groups larger than the maximum allowed by fire code.
