Had a customer come through my line, started off by telling me, "I have a return."
RJ: Me
CC: Confused customer
CC: I want to return this frame, and I think I want to exchange it for this frame, because the first one was the wrong size.
RJ: Okay. *return frame, start to ring new frame*
CC: But, I want to use my 50% coupon on it.
RJ: So far, I'm not seeing a reason why you can't do that... (Note: first time she has to sign a credit card slip)
CC: *watches me scan the new frame, then says* "Oh, wait, no, I want this third frame that I haven't even handed you, and not the one you're scanning."
RJ: O...kay..." *start to ring this third frame, having voided the second frame from the transaction* (second credit card slip)
CC: I've also got this stuff over here *points to a small pile of items* but they're separate."
RJ: I can do those in this transaction..."
CC: I'm not sure if I want them yet."
RJ: Kay...
CC: Oh, wait, maybe I want to get the frame I bought yesterday anyway... but I want to use the coupon that was on my transaction yesterday, for the 25%..."
RJ: The one that only lasted through 9 oclock? The one that you don't have in your hands? The one that the computer won't recognize, seeing as the coupon isn't valid any longer? The coupon that isn't showing as having affected your frame purchase? That coupon?
CC: Yes.
RJ: *blink, call FES, who calls MOD for me, MOD calls me at my register, I explain quickly, MOD says, just do it, make the customer happy* Okay... *grabs coupon log sheet, fills out the necessary info, blah blah blah* (third credit card slip)
That return/purchase is done. Turns out, CC bought the original frame back at a discount, along with a second frame. On that particular transaction. She then hands me a few smaller items, but only wants the big one. No biggie, I toss the smaller stuff in my returns basket and go on my way. (fourth credit card slip, and, by this point, I just want her gone)
She makes a comment about how well I handled her problem, to which I reply, "Hey, I love puzzles."
Another transaction, also a return, where the lady was returning four garlands, her receipt had the garlands plus some other, already returned, stuff, and somehow ended up with a refund of more than her entire total. I'm almost certain I got scammed on that transaction somehow, but I had an FES look at the transaction as well, and she found nothing wrong either.
Another lady, also a return, bought two things in the doorbuster sale yesterday, used her coupon, and wanted to return them today (she had only the end of one of the spools of ribbon, but not the other item on the receipt) because, for some reason I couldn't see, the system had discounted the lower priced item, but not the higher priced one. Neither item was on sale. Again, no coupon, and I just had to shrug and hand her to an FES, as there was no way I could see for the system to have discounted the lower priced item, so, something was borked in the system, and it wouldn't be something I could fix.
