"A special encore presentation" (Oh, you mean a repeat/re-run).
That was the norm of the Holiday Specials that would air on network tv back in the 70's . . .

Meaning the same ol' crap year after year . . . how many times can one watch "Old Yeller?' for example? We all know he got shot in the end . . .

I personally could watch "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown" every year.

It's one of those things I grew up with and was always a sign of the holidays to me.

I always figured that car dealerships called them "sales events" instead of "sales" because they weren't actually offering any discounts they didn't normally have available. They're just events during which they sell you things. With maybe some theme appropriate decorations.
I can't speak for other brands of cars, but I do remember how the Red Tag Event worked last year at Saturn.

Basically we were given a certain amount of discount money by GM to play with, and with that we had to pre-designate certain cars that would use up that discount. Those cars, and only those cars, would be discounted.

Since there's no negotiation involved with Saturn, the "event" seems a lot more straightforward than it would be at dealers of all other GM brands.

That all being said, the term "event" seems preposterous, but it seems to carry a more dignified connotation than just plain "sale." Car dealerships in general have long been associated with taking it with no lube, so this is probably just another attempt at an image overhaul.

IMHO Plastic can be faster than cash, depending on the situation. At my store you can swipe you card, enter a pin, etc while the cashier is scanning. At the end of the transaction all you have to do is hit OK to confirm the amount or sign depending on debit or CC. If you wait to swipe or have the cash ready, that is what slows down the line. The SC's who just know they have that extra penny in the bottom of their purse somewhere...

That's a Hyundai commercial, and from what I've heard anecdotally Hyundai's are crap cars.

They are great cars. My parents has one, its small, but it drives great.

Something the kid will wear once and throw in a closet to rot. Or better yet, return.
Actually very funny thing is that commercial came on just as I was reading this thread so I turned and watched it and caught something funny at the end. Mom rips the tag off the suit just before they fade to black. And I thought it was a kinda funny one, from a certain point of view.

As for the rest of the commercials. They are very very annoying. I'll agree the KIA one is kinda disturbing. If a slesman started acting like that around me it would not entice me to buy a car from him.

And the Simple thigns are the best anyhow. I agree whole heartedly about the Charlie Brown Christmas Special and the Grinch and a few other classics.

Next time I see that commercial, I'll have to watch for that.
