I had to google it, but Minnesota hasn't recognized common law marriage since 1941.
Updates on this situation:
Jaqueline came in yesterday and had me notarize a healthcare directive for her. It seemed unrelated to anything else, but maybe it was on her mind because of Frank's deteriorating health.
Coincidentally, while Jaqueline was in the bank, Frank's daughter texted one of my CWs. Getting the sad part out of the way, Frank is in hospice. Which means they don't expect him to live much longer and just want to make him comfortable.
The daughter also said the Jaqueline has been driving Frank's car, but she took it away from her. Makes me wonder how Jaqueline got to the bank. She doesn't seem the type to walk across town.
The biggest thing in the text is that the daughter provided Jaqueline with a 30-day notice to move out of the house. If she doesn't move out, they'll have to pursue legal action. Evicting someone when there's no formal lease still follows eviction laws in Minnesota. The bank has had to deal with that before. It's a huge pain.
