I recently picked up a Canon XTi, after using a Minolta Vectis APS SLR for the past several years. I switched because it became harder to find APS film and get it developed. Plus I wanted something with a better zoom and continuous shooting mode. Here's some photos I took just hours after getting the Canon. I basically had it on full auto, the only change was using an ISO of 1600 and no flash.

Quoth Brentos View Postyour shots seem pretty nice, what lens did you use?
Also, I had a guy today, who wanted to trade in his beautiful 70-300 lens, we're talking 1700 when he got it (it's still 1100 cdn today) I warned him before I even looked it up that he was much better off selling it himself, even low-balling the price, but when I told him that the best he would get is a quarter of the price of a new one he gave me his card and told me to have my manager give him a call when we get serious about buying it.
I'd LOVE the Sigma 120-300 2.8.
Eventually.

it was an expensive old 70-300 lens. Still in beautiful condition, but as I said, the company I work for isn't going to offer somebody the selling price for a lens and then have it collect dust while it may at some point months down the line sell for no profit.
Another new one: A customer was wondering about the Rebel XTi because he has a bunch of old canon lenses. I explained how autofocus film lenses would work, but they wouldn't go as wide as they did with his film camera because of the different sized sensors. The zoom would be great, even better than it was before, but he would have a tougher time trying to capture wider situations.
It took me 4 attempts, but I think I explained that to him (in all fairness, I do understand that if you're not into photography, it may not be the easiest thing to understand, but the basics are simple, changing to digital with film lenses, he wouldn't get as wide making it tougher for group shots, landscape, etc.)
ANYWAYS, I think I had finally explained how it's worth it to spend the $100 on the crappy kit lens, and then his wife comes up and he goes to her "He says that our lenses aren't gonna be any good on a digital camera."
WHERE DID I SAY THAT!? IF YOU ASK ME QUESTIONS, DO YOU NOT LISTEN TO ME!?
