  • Ladder!!.....LADDER!!

So today one of the workers was on a ladder. The ladder he was on was blocking one of the doorways of our double door entrance. For safety sake, we shoved the sign in front of the outside, and locked the doors inside. The ladder was them placed straddling the pathway of the now locked and barricaded doors.

So about an hour or so after the setup, two of the guys were cleaning the doorway above for some Christmas decorations. One guy was on the floor passing decorations to the guy on the ladder. I was nearby doing some shelving.

I then hear this loud scream, and then one of the workers yelling his lungs out. I turn and see the workers arguing with a guy.

Seems the worker on the floor had his back turned to grab some decorations, and the guy, thinking no-one was on the ladder, tried to move it. The guy on the ladder almost loses his balance, and yells out. The worker on the floor turns around, and both of them yell at the guy. The Guy then snaps back, and now I have to sort out the fight.

So the guy tries to berate me. Just behind him, I see LP walking from the back, with a very stern and angry look on his face. The guy is crying foul, trying to make me and the store look bad, telling us how dare we accuse him of trying to kill a worker. LP then tells him to leave the premises before he calls the cops. AND he has the security tape to prove that the guy didn't look first before moving the ladder WHILE ignoring the open doors next to the ladder. The guy gives a "few words" and leaves.

And my faith in Humanity slipped alot.

Scare aside, I'm glad everyone is okay. Someone could've been hurt.

Too bad security didn't call police on the asshat. Not sure what he could've been charged with. Attempted battery?
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Reckless endangerment maybe. Although he probably wouldn't have been charged in the end.

Reckless endangerment, maybe. I don't know if that's only limited to driving or not. Maybe they wouldn't charge him with anything. Maybe they'd hold him long enough to become someone's girlfriend and let him go.

He's very lucky that ladder didn't topple over and fall on him. That would have really added injury to insult.

People never pay attention to things like this. At just about every place I have ever worked I can guarantee that if one door needs shut or locked for any reason, the customers will only want to use that door. It does not matter how big a sign you put on the door, or what you use to barricade it shut, they will shove it out of the way and try to use it, and when it falls off the hinge or smacks them in the face it's all the workers fault

Sometimes I am that blind customer. But I usually blame snake-itis or my blindness, not the store or the workers.
