Believe me, I know all too well that sc's don't think of us as being actual people, just robots to wait on them hand and foot!

Back a few months ago, I fell at work while waiting tables and sprained my knee. I'm not sure what it was I tripped over, but anyway, we had a packed house, upstairs and down, with only three people, myself included, working. Well, after I fell, my coworkers helped me back downstairs and I had to sit behind the register to check people out. That left the cook and the dishwasher to serve food.

Well, not long after the incident, a teenager from a large table upstairs that I had fallen right in front of had the nerve to come and ask why the food was taking longer to be cooked! Well, duh! I (politely as I could) reminded her of my accident and that had left us shorter staffed. I still don't think she comprehended, 'cause they didn't leave a tip, and I did hear them laughing about my fall. Bitches!

Call me a snarky bitch, but whenever i injure myself at work and a customer makes light of it, I make it a point to show them the gruesome details of my wound (sometimes pulling apart cuts to show off my fleshy interior!) and go

"oh, so you are under the impression that I enjoy this?"

Funny, I've not been fired yet.

I know you couldn't really do this, but the perfect response would be to shut off the register, tell him, "OK, I'm taking my break now!", and walk away.
One day I was chatting with a customer while ringing her out. I joked about stopping mid-transaction and going to break. Her face froze. She told me how that exact experience happened at one of our sister stores. My customer had a large transaction and the cashier said "This is too big, I'm tired" and just walked away. A short while later, a manager came over to finish ringing the customer out.

The kicker? Customer saw the "tired" cashier ringing someone else on another lane. Apparently she didn't want to ring through a large transaction. Wow.

I work in outside sales. This summer I called on a customer on Tuesday, my normal day to see her. She said she had to leave, because she has a dentist's appointment. "Okay", I said, "I'll come back tomorrow."

Well, later that day I had some chest pain, called my doctor and they told me to go to the ER. I did, and they admitted me overnight to monitor me. So, I couldn't see my customer the next day.

I showed after being released the following day (Thursday) and she was out. I even went back a couple of hours later and she says, "I don't have time to see you, you were supposed to be here yesterday!" When I said I couldn't because I was in the hospital, she said in a very snippy voice, "Sorry. Hope you're better now", practically spitting out the words.

It was as close as i've ever been to telling a customer to f*** off and quitting on the spot.
