Meh, I come from a breastfeeding family, so when my first (premature and 5lbs 6ozs and him and I were supposed to both die) wouldn't latch, my mom said, "Wait, let him get hungry." Eventually, after some heart-wrenching crying and wailing, he decided he wanted to learn how to latch on.

BUT I'm agreeing that the whole breastfeeding/formula thing is a very personal decision. It was hard for me at first, but I was adamant about it. I worked hard to be a breastfeeding mother with my first, now its old hat.

Breastfeeding twins takes twice as much work, I can see how I would even opt for formula feeding if I had twins. OP you have my sympathy and encouragement in this, allergies are such a pain and a trial, but somehow you find the strength to get through them. That guy was a jerk, how dare he pass judgement on you for wanting your little slice of peace in the middle of a hectic part of your life. WIC is there to help, no matter how dire your need is. I've used it simply because I qualified for it while I was saving up for better things for my family. (ie a reliable car).

    Personally, I woulda slapped him.

LJT: I also hate when people ask you breastfeeding questions but really on if its some random stranger, If I'm having a discussion with someone and their curious I have absolutely no problem sharing because a) I don't care what people think and b) I feel my decision was right.

My girls were in the NICU for several weeks after they were born. I'm sure it would have been possible for me to pump for them but honestly I just couldn't do it. I was pretty sick myself, depressed cause my slimy ex got custody of the kids though an ex-parte order, and just stress by the whole thing.

Raieth: Don't worry you weren't rude, the rest of us are just as nosy as you. And I didn't know they still had nursemaids... I thought that profession died of years ago. I should check with the doctor to see if they can even digest breastmilk.

You know its funny though, I think the universe is trying to prepare me to go back to work went to target with my dad and the kids and when I was looking at something on an endcap this woman next to me goes "I'm sure you could have found someone your own age." or some nonsence like that. It just seemed so weird. Cause when I see 3 generations (babies, girl who could be late teens/early 20s, and man whose in his 50s/60s) I automatically think child bride. To me the logical conclusion would be child and grandchild or all his children.

I have twins, a boy and a girl, and I remember the problems we had with formula. We tried Enfamil, and discovered they would only be able to drink the very expensive Isomil. It wasn't anything close to what you were paying, but it's another financial burden. I would not change a thing about it though.

With this SC, it was downright wrong of him to do what he did there. However, I think I can see why people like this have this attitude. My brother's ex cannot hold down a job, is unable to pay any bills, or anything else, yet she always has money for cigarettes. He has custody of their son, and she struggles to pay the child support (when she's working, that is) because it puts a strain on her ability to buy a pack of smokes. When she lost custody of their son, she was more upset, not about losing custody, but from losing the monthly child support she was getting, because it was part of her income, according to her. In her mind, it wasn't money to get the kid shoes, clothing, or food. This SC probably thinks everyone out there, including you, is like that.

When we had the twins, there were people saying that we might qualify for WIC to buy the formula. However, we found that the formula was within our budget and therefore saw no need to apply for WIC, plus we most likely would have been turned down anyway. In your case, I can't imagine anyone being able to afford what you've described, unless they were a rich oil tycoon or something.
