  • "You're late" - nice try

    One from the car rentals...

Customers can book a rental online. Some are simply requests for bookings, other types can be actually booked and confirmed entirely online.

One booking yesterday morning brought interest. It was made at 9.15am and brought to staff attention about 9.20. Customer wanted to be collected from his hotel at 9.00am - the same day. Yes folks, he wanted to be collected 15 minutes before he made the booking!

Rep rings customer to see if they put the wrong date or what, and as soon as he identifies where he's calling from, SC says "You're late".

    Rep: "Sorry sir?"
SC: "You're late, you were supposed to pick me up at nine."
Rep: "Sir, you made your booking at 9.15am..."
SC interrupts: "I did not!! I booked it at 8.30!!!"
Rep: "Well sir, our computer records show you started making the booking at 9.12 and had it finished at 9.15."
    SC: "Uh, well .... "

CAUGHT!! SC was told they weren't going to collect him at all and he had to make his own way in.

Not to mention, depending on the location the guy was wanting to be picked up, 30 minutes (by the guy's account of when he made the reservation) might not be enough time to get to him anyway.

This was without a doubt accompanied by the famous 'deer in the headlights' look.

Too bad it was over the phone & you did not get to see it.
