"I have a contract, I'm the Contractor, you work for me, I tell you what to do, if you don't do it, it's breach of contract"

"You built the wall wrong, causing an extra trip, the cost of which has to be agreed to before we can do the work, per the contract"

"Well I'll agree to it, but I'm going to have to have my attorney call you..."

[interupting]"sorry, I can't handle this issue anymore, please hold for (my boss)"

This was Friday, it still isn't resolved, and it's going to end up in court I'm betting. This guy is a major jackass

How much did the dude spend to watch the movie, anyway? I hate that people will sue for minor sh-t like this, but hey if they do sue they have those lawyer fees to pay, so if it over something minor it kinda makes the sue-crazy people look like idiots.

People are always telling me they are going to sue me and/or the company I work for. It really pisses them off when I tell them to go right ahead.

          Oh, wow...

All these stories have made me curious: I wonder what caused the sudden "fad" with people suing others for stupid reasons. For some years, it seems as if no matter where we turn, there's someone threatening to sue others...

And , but this all reminds me of this song by Weird Al...

Because people are greedy. They want to get rich quick without having to actually work for it, and they see suing someone else as the quick, easy way to do it.

Just one of many reasons why human nature disgusts me.

              -selling ice cream
-refusing to give someone money out of the till while he gave me nothing in exchange
-refusing to honour an expired credit card
              -selling condoms
              -reading a training manual
-not knowing where the nearest brothel is
You know.... something like that and I'd be tempted to say... "Ok, file the suit. This'll be kinda amusing."
              CS: grumble grumble threaten threaten
Me: No...I'm serious. Go for it.

i think most of them forget... If they want to file a lawsuit, it's up to THEM to provide the lawyers and pay for it themselves. The company doesn't have to do sh** until they get the court summons.

so... call their bluff. watch how they sputter and try to threaten more... and then watch them shut up when they realize... you're more serious than they are.

How much did the dude spend to watch the movie, anyway?
... and what movie was it?
i'd really like to see him try a lawsuit if it was a porno or something like that. that'd be even funnier.

The hotel where I worked had similar problems with people and the PPV movies. Have you spoken with the owners about upgrading to a newer system? The latest systems I'm familiar with are all third-party systems, where the hotel gets a fee for putting the system in all the rooms but payment is handled by the movie company. This means that since they handle all the charges, you can refer any problems to somebody else.

                  Go right ahead, moron(s)!!!

I finally got sick of this "I'll sue you!" crap and spoke my true feelings.

The story background: This was in the late 90s when I worked in a bedding store. This one couple (actually the wife, the husband seemed like a henpecked little mouse who did whatever she said) had our delivery drivers return to their house several times. They kept claiming the mattresses were defective, something about the stitching if I recall correctly. Now, on very RARE occasions, this might be possible, if there were a problem with the factory machinery which assembles that particular mattress model. But our drivers checked the product and there was no such problem. The drivers claimed this woman was putting the moves on them, and so the concensus was that this was a revenge thing, since the drivers refused her advances (while her husband was home and in the next room, I might add!).

Anyway, one day they came to the store, and after I explained that we could do nothing further, we started to argue, and she said "I'll get a lawyer!" I replied, "Go ahead! I hate lawyers, I think they're yuppie scum! So threatening me with one is the quickest way to get me to do absolutely nothing!!!" They (well, more like SHE) didn't know what to say to that. If memory serves correctly, that was the end of our problems with those idiots.

All the time, people get really sucky when their car gets towed, but a new low was reached with the guy with the Cadillac SUV who threatened to sue because he was a hotel guest who parked accross the street from said hotel in a private lot, that had posted signs they would tow, signs he ADMITTED HE SAW, but parked anyway because he figured since he was a hotel guest with a hotel permit in the car, someone would call him to move it.

Uh Yeah, it doesn't work that way.

sounds like my old co-worker M___. he never threatened to sue cos in the back of his selfish mind he knew he wouldn't win... in his new apartment he parked in the pay-per-month covered lot without paying & the guy who *had* paid for the spot called and M___'s car got towed. He was soooo furious, ranting "he had no right!" bla bla bla.

interesting how quick some people are to step on other people's rights, then whine and rant worse than children when their self-invented rights are 'stepped on'.

Sales Monkey: Our owners know their options, & in Montana we have very few if any. Simply put: Every hotel of our chain (not owned by the same owners), have the same system. We are all stuck with it. Simple as that.
