Why are your shelves empty?

So at work we are currently renovating about 1/4 of the store. Shopfitters came in on Monday, and have been hard at work ever since. Today we had carpenters and electricians both working. The carpenters were using power tools, so a fair bit of noise, while the electricians had exposed wiring. Due to the "construction site" nature of the place, we have the relevant corner taped off, with security tape, similar to that stuff the police use on crime scenes only it's yellow & black. We have two ropes, one about 2 foot from the ground, one about 4 foot. Hanging from the security tape about every 6 feet is an A3 sign, black text on yellow background, saying "Construction site, Keep out, Parents please ensure children do not enter this area". I would think it pretty obvious that this is a restricted area.

I look up and notice a customer in the middle of the construction area.

Straight in to chase him out before he comes to grief, as it is no place for the public.

Me: [At the top of my voice because there are power tools operating] Sir, I need you to get out of this area NOW. (unfortunately my voice was drowned out by power tools)

SC just gives me a dumb look, so I repeated myself.

The power tool stops, and before I can get a chance to repeat myself again, Customer waves his hand at the empty shelves with bare wires poking out of them, and says to me...

"Don't you sell MP3 players anymore?"

After escorting him outside the construction zone, I did a quick check of it's perimeter - yup, all intact. SC must have climbed through the tape to get in there.

Not bad I guess, it took 3 days before someone went in there. I've had countless people ask me "are you closing down?".

And if he'd gotten injured somehow while bebopping around in this dangerous area...I can hear it now:
"You people should put a SIGN!"

I know that SCs don't recognize signage unless it benefits them in some way (they can read the word FREE just fine), but this guy went above and beyond even general stupidity.

amazing in fact... I have a similar story from years ago... except SC got all pissy that I wouldn't let him endanger him and his child's life. Told me he'd never rent from me again because of it too...

We have SC's who ignor our "employees only" signs on the back room doors. I wanted to put a sign up that said

FREE*

No customers beyond this point.

*No charge to read this sign.

The manager thought is was funny but said we couldn't because corp. may not like it.

The Media Play store I used to work for closed down and went through liquidation. Now we didn't actually own the books (I believe a company named Ingram did??) and therefore couldn't sell books as part of the liquidation, until the liquidators and Ingram hashed things out with each other. So the entire book section was closed off. As in, big beastly shelving units and rope surrounded the book section and blocked it from the general public. In addition to signs hanging every few feet announcing that the book section was closed and books were NOT for sale. People would have to climb over and through furniture to get into the books section. Did this stop people? Nope, customers were chased out on an hourly basis and became irate when they were chased out or when the cashier refused to sell them the books they oh-so-carefully selected.

We had a couple do that when the supermarket was being refitted; they ignored the giant signs both back and front telling people that the store was closed and came in. Someone had to do an announcement to tell them to leave. We also had to station people outside to tell the morons ignoring the giant sign (seeing a pattern emerging here?); but those two people somehow circumnavigated them. XD The stoopid can't be stopped!

The good news is, if he did get hurt it's highly unlikely a lawyer would take his case unless he paid a large deposit upfront. Shifty lawyers can be sleazy but even they know a loser when they see one - both the case and the customer
